US Soldiers Expose Nuclear Weapons Secrets Via Flashcard Apps

For US soldiers tasked with the custody of nuclear weapons in Europe, the stakes are high. Security protocols are lengthy, detailed and need to be known by heart. To simplify this process, some service members have been using publicly visible flashcard learning apps — inadvertently revealing a multitude of sensitive security protocols about US nuclear weapons and the bases at which they are stored.

While the presence of US nuclear weapons in Europe has long been detailed by various leaked documents, photos and statements by retired officials, their specific locations are officially still a secret with governments neither confirming nor denying their presence.

As many campaigners and parliamentarians in some European nations see it, this ambiguity has often hampered open and democratic debate about the rights and wrongs of hosting nuclear weapons.

However, the flashcards studied by soldiers tasked with guarding these devices reveal not just the bases, but even identify the exact shelters with “hot” vaults that likely contain nuclear weapons.

They also detail intricate security details and protocols such as the positions of cameras, the frequency of patrols around the vaults, secret duress words that signal when a guard is being threatened and the unique identifiers that a restricted area badge needs to have.

Oh my god... Its not so much letting Russia know as Russians know pretty much everything about EU military stations and bases.

(Trust me keeping physical bases a secret from Russia is impossible and vise versa for the US twords Russia as spy technology for the US and Russia are beyond my very own comprehension...)

BUT rather this is very bad showing terrorists where these sites are located. Last thing we need is a hippie eco terrorist trying to blow up a MRBM site in EU.

Need to make a quick remark on my stance on Climate Change. It is more than real and the world has to do somthing about it.

BUT climate change should never ever,.. even a little hinder US actions or strategies so will always support the military even though the US military pollutes more than most counties...

Conflicting I know,.. but security comes first and climate change oddly touches all aspect militarily or politically.

@Everyone please do not debate. THIS POST wasn't meant for debate but rather a show of where I stand.

I’ve never understood all these news reports about porn on gov computers. Or unsecured gov phones or ANY cross over of technology between gov and personal.
For Christ sake I work a back shift at municipal maintenance as my retirement job. I won’t even plug my phone in to charge off a terminals USB port.
these people aren’t stupid their just complacent.
in business I would no more use my work phone to contact my wife than steal from the company. She didn’t even have the number to it. And you never took documents or plans home. How hard is this to comprehend.

Good even American companies hurt from this. Just simply charging your phone by a USB to data hub server will hurt McDonald's or even Best Buy. Normal Citizens need to charge their own devices including at work. Its there where a lot of leaks or hacks occur.

If there isn't a outlet to plug in your device at your job there are always systems and device's in any business that has A USB hook up is acceptable....... To a normal worker that USB plug on the server or computer is just to charge but in reality is its just a good bridge for hackers.

Let me simply say that social media has been turned into a way of war. Soldier's or even top business men will say somewhat or give away where they work and/or what they do. In turn Russia or other countries spy and plant viruses in the facilities personal through email mostly.

This simple trick by foreigners has resulted in the most security issues ever happened in the US political or military systems...

At one time I thought there was but honestly I’m not sure
Not saying anything but commonly scene. Canada does not need US nuclear weapons as any take over Or invasion of canadians would be 110% unacceptable by the US.

Promise you this any and ALL WORLD POWER'S KNOW THIS, any take actions over Canada would BE MET BY A completely and decisive military response by the US.

SO THERE FOR Canada only needs to station radar bases an nothing more for the US.

Same goes for Mexico. There is a reason why world powers have left Mexico almost completely alone in the US sphere of complete influence.

Not to get off topic but do you seriously believe what you just said? Think long and hard about what you were taught in school. What the hell do you think happens AFTER AN ICE AGE??? The warm cycle after the ice age has not stopped. Pretty elementary stuff but Governments want everyone to believe the dope they are selling so they can tax OUR tax dollars and siphon billions into their personal accounts, strangle small businesses while keeping only the Giant corporations alive. They want you to believe, just like sleepy Joe said, " I want to stop all Petrol in this country". So our vehicles will use what for Tires then? lol. Idiots, acting like anything can be stopped all while every solution that they come up with requires Petroleum to make.

This just goes to show, our military has gone to hell. Nobody has any dam common anymore or even sense to keep things quiet and off the dam internet. These people from the top down need to be fired. Even the commander of their bosses. If these people were not told the basics of Nuclear weapons secrets what the hell were they even doing in that position to learn anything secret????? Their bosses need to be court martial over this idiotic stunt.

The fact that these retards even came out and admitted this just proves my point. Even if they were not watching, now they will be looking for the information online!!!!!!

Its like they just cant help themselves, they have to tell the media EVERYTHING when sometimes things need to stay hush to minimize the damage. Hopefully they will actually move everything rather than do the typical Military stunt and just leave them there thinking they will have outsmarted someone.

I wonder if Canada has US nuclear warheads on its soil?
They do not. They are, however, protected by the so called US "Nuclear Umbrella."

More so the Queens nuclear umbrella. While ours has more punch they would have to convince the queen to nuke someone if they wanted to start a war with an enemy that way. Ours can defend them under Article 5 of NATO. Say the Chinese for instance shoots a nuclear tipped cruise missile at the capital of Canada. The UK would be the first to respond unless they didn't have the capability without shooting over Russia and starting a huge World War. If we did have an Ohio class sub anywhere near China, we would likely turn China into a sheet of glass as requested under Article 5.

Canada is responsible for the best missile defense system we ever had being shut down the day it went online in the US. Not the most comfortable system, knowing how it works but back in the 70s we had the Sprint ABM that would go from 0- Mach 10 in seconds and detonate a low yield nuke into the incoming warheads.

That system protected every base, silo system and large city in the US. They flipped the on switch after spending billions. Congress said turn it off and scrap it right after that same day.

Canada cried that they would receive too much nuclear fall out. They should have went and cried to Russia about that one, not us for wanting to keep nuclear warheads from destroying our cities and bases.

Canadian Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson declared in 1963 that his country would not acquire nuclear material, but if necessary, the Canadian military would have access to American nuclear weapons. The Canadian Armed Forces therefore signed an agreement for a new weapon system on August 16, 1963.
In Bagotville, the nuclear warheads arrived during the month of May 1965. The soldiers of the base are responsible for the maintenance of the Air-2A Genie rocket inside Building P while about fifteen American technicians take care of maintenance of warheads.
From September 1965, three Voodoo squadrons were equipped with 1.5 kiloton anti-bomber atomic air-to-air missiles. National Defense decides to station them at Chatham, Bagotville, Comox and at Forward Operating Base Val-d'Or. Air surveillance is provided by 425 Squadron Alouette de Bagotville with its CF-101 Voodoo.
In April of the same year, the nuclear weapons were withdrawn from Chatham and transported to Bagotville. The last warheads left the Saguenay in April 1984.
