This.

This is the first major war in Europe for years that Russia has been directly involved in, and of course the entire world is against it.

They need some form of deterrence incase anyone gets brave. My worry is what they count as “getting brave”

I also worry because this is in response to what exactly? Sanctions?

He’s lost his fucking mind
Yes Ofcourse putin knows that his army are vulnerable , This point is Russia’s toughest part of this war he knows that if someone tries to intervene now Russia stand no chance , this readiness level benefits Russia when it comes to negotiating, when it comes to morale of the Ukrainian soldiers, and also just reaffirms that no one will get involved in this

This is their strategy. Escalate to deescalate. Of course, the US will probably react in turn but with any luck it’ll bring people to the negotiating table with some actual fucking proposals. Hasn’t zelensky agreed to meet Lukashenko?

I watched the stream live, Putin didn't say the word "nuclear". Just "deterrence forces”
Read the Pravda article
Russia’s view of deference is fluid not proportional. What ever is needed to protect Russia, including the government.
It can be passive deference or active “punitive”
Anything that threatens the viability of Russia to continue on in its current state. The application can be convention or nuclear. It also implies it can be in response to a nuclear or a conventional threat.
I think it means exactly what is implied. elevated threat level across the spectrum of military weapons.

He’s probably also upset about the flow of weapons and other military aid into Ukraine. The German commitment to supply a large amount of arms is quite a turnaround, for example.

They have , they’ve agreed a place to meet, Pripyat river, I’m quite certain that the meetings alongside there deteriorating army in Ukraine are the reason for enhanced readiness

Talking of Pripyat river, anyone heard of this mysterious bridge?

I'd be surprised if we go straight to Nuclear Exchange. We should have a bit of a conventional scuffle between NATO and Russia first I would imagine.

Relax take a breath, no one is threatening each other yet, this I likely a move for Russia to gain more regional powers they have threatened this but that doesn’t carry have as much weight as readying them
No, this is just an escalation. We're still not approaching Cuban Missile Crisis levels yet.
I hope so i am really hoping cooler heads will prevail but this is not giving me confidence. 😔

I disagree. We are at a high crisis level no spinning around it. My children and grandchildren are in town so won't be around for awhile. ☮️
We are not seconds away from a nuclear exchange the way we were in 1962. Don't blow this out of proportion.

To those who are worrying about the situation, you may take a deep sigh of relief. Even if we go to DEFCON 3, the fact remains: Russia does not want to engage in a nuclear war with the United States. To do so would be a vast escalation, and would bring about the end of the world as we know it— at a much quicker rate. This is something that obviously no one wants.

Yes, nuclear threats do change the game, and with fog of war and strategic forces on standby, this is a particularly fluid and dangerous situation. But we are nowhere near a launch taking place. You can rest easy today.

In my vision, "seconds" should be DEFCON 1 or at least 2.
So shouldn't the current scenario be DEFCON 3?
Staff and/or Director, please, correct me if I'm wrong.

Possibly, but this still has to be analyzed and discussed by staff members. Should know more in a couple of hours.

The current situation barely warrants leaving defcon 4 in my opinion
