Sri Lanka Collapses & Descends into Chaos

Not seeing a whole lot of movement by India to intervene directly into Sri Lanka. Pakistan, either.
This is less then 15 hours old and still very ongoing. India and Pakistan have not had the time to react yet. But MP's in India are gathering support to send troops into Sri Lanka as posted in previous page.

Also the Indian public sentiments on social media are extreme about "adopting" Sri Lanka into Indian statehood.

Definitely will keep watching, though.
We all should. This is still very fresh and given Public Statements by Indian officials within the past few hours is not reassuring. Waiting for any public statements by Pakistans new government or China.

I'd say the real response to watch out for would be the one coming out of China. Pakistan is ill suited - militarily speaking - to lend any real assistance to Sri Lanka. However, Pakistan itself is a valuable asset for China, and an Indian takeover of Sri Lanka would certainly not go down well in Beijing.

Good observation there does seem to be more competition here between China and India.
I can see why India seems to be all over this. If I were them I’d be anxious as well.

Yes. Indian media pushing hard the reason why Sri Lanka collapsed is because of Chinese predatory loaning for infrastructure they know they couldn't pay back.

This isn't the case. But Indian government and media put full blame on China for the collapse which is really odd.

Don't see issue for Pakistan over Sri Lanka. China on the other hand offers bail out in return for bases may be interested. Thailand and Singapore wouldn't like that or the quad. But nothing anyone can do about that.

I have not followed Chinese Sri Larkin negotiations regarding the port of Colombo. But there does seem to be quite a bit of domestic unrest regarding the deal giving control of Columbo to China almost exclusively.
Relations between the new gov and China had cooled science last year.
But it’s defiantly an at play power struggle and when you coincided it offers China access and control of a deep water port in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It’s important to everyone in the Southern Hemisphere except Tiera Del Fuego

Pakistan is their ally. They also have a new government who overthrow previous leadership. They may want to act strong as their "first order of business" in the new regime of Pakistan.

But do agree China may be the one to get sucked into a vacuum with India over Sri Lankan bankruptcy & collapse. Some good analysis from members here about it.

Pakistan is already broke and can afford for China to step in. Especially as they have the common enemy being India.

That is not necessarily a reason why not.
What was or is the relationship of the Sri Lankan politicians who pushed thru the farming regulation changes that started this disruption of their economy.

Now their gov has collapsed their economy is in trouble and who will swoop in to save the day.

It’s just a theory to hang out there and watch for any indicators there might be something to it.

Meanwhile, a very mild reaction from Moscow. Apparently, color revolutions are a-okay again. (y)
(But seriously, I guess Putin has too much on his plate already and doesn't need a piece of this particular s**tsandwich.)

Yes. But China on the other hand... or maybe even Pakistans new government may do something.

But what seems to be the more likely outcome is a showdown between china and india over this. Very steady/heavy media campaign by India to blame China for Sri Lanka collapse. Then you have a pretty steady helping hand financially from china to Sri lanka as well including unpaid debt.

Which China may use the debt to force itself into Sri Lanka. In that case India will not sit by and allow China to gather a foot hold the other side of its borders.
