Head of the Ministry of Defense of Britain estimated Russian losses at 220,000 people

Russia has lost over 220,000 soldiers dead and wounded in the war against Ukraine, British Defence Minister Ben Wallace said at a press conference. He specified that this figure was based on US intelligence data.

Commenting on the current situation on the front, Wallace noted that the Russian troops "are hardly advancing" and "are suffering huge losses," and also pointed to "deep systemic problems" in the Russian army.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) noted that the Russian army suffered more combat losses in a year of invasion than in all wars since World War II combined: 200,000 to 250,000 men, including 60,000 to 70,000 dead. According to their data, the average monthly losses in Ukraine are at least 25 times higher than in Chechnya and 35 times higher than in Afghanistan.

A similar estimate was given by the British intelligence. It noted that by February the real losses of the Russian army in Ukraine reached 175-200 thousand people, of which 40-60 thousand were killed.
