Israel has now destroyed Syria's air defenses, dropping 1,800 bombs on over 500 targets in a few hours. This means Israel can use Syria’s airspace more freely, turning Syria into a springboard for attacking Iran.

Syria used to possess the most densely concentrated array of air defense batteries in the world. Dozens of Russian-made SA-17, SA-22, SA-6, SA-8, and SA-5 batteries launched hundreds of missiles at Israeli fighter jets over the past decade, downing an Israeli F16I in 2018.

Generations of Israeli fighter pilots were raised memorizing the range of Syrian SA-5 missiles (180 miles) and studying the vulnerabilities of the MiG-29 (weak radar and a small fuel tank). No longer. The nemesis of the Israeli Air Force has been completely destroyed.

Even Russia's advanced S-300 batteries used by Iran were destroyed by the Israeli Air Force earlier this year. While Iran still likely possesses dozens of advanced air defense systems, the balance of power in the Middle East has shifted.

In the past, Israeli Air Force pilots would prepare to fight Russian MiG and Sukhoi fighter jets and "dodge ” Russian anti-aircraft missiles. Now, every advanced air force in the region, including Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia, uses American fighter jets like the F-16.

In both Ukraine’s war with Russia and Israel’s war with Iran, American weapons have thus far dominated Russian technology. Will the next “Top Gun” movie feature Chinese drones?

UK granted immunity to Israeli General amid war crimes allegations:
Declassified UK on Friday reported that Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, Chief of the General Staff of the Israel occupation forces (IOF), was granted diplomatic immunity during his visit to the UK in late November.

Provided under a "special mission certificate," the immunity shielded Halevi from potential legal action under Britain's universal jurisdiction laws, which allow for the prosecution of serious international crimes regardless of where they were committed.
Halevi's visit, which included meetings with senior UK officials from the Ministry of Defence, the Foreign Office, and Attorney General Richard Hermer, came just days after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Security Minister Yoav Gallant over war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Iran currency slips to new lows amid U.S., Europe tensions:
DUBAI, Dec 14 (Reuters) - The Iranian currency extended its fall on Saturday, hitting a new all-time low against the U.S. dollar amid uncertainties about Donald Trump's imminent arrival in the White House and tensions with the West over Tehran's nuclear programme.
The rial plunged to 756,000 to the dollar on the unofficial market on Saturday, compared to 741,500 rials on Friday, according to Bonbast.com, which reports exchange rates. The bazar360.com website said the dollar was being sold for about 755,000 rials.
Facing an official inflation rate of about 35%, Iranians seeking safe havens for their savings have been buying dollars, other hard currencies, gold or cryptocurrencies, suggesting further headwinds for the rial.
The dollar has been gaining against the rial since trading around 690,000 rials in early November amid concerns that once inaugurated in January, Trump would re-impose his "maximum pressure" policy against Iran with tougher sanctions and empower Israel to strike Iranian nuclear sites.
Iran's currency again declined after the board of governors of the UN nuclear agency IAEA passed a European-proposed resolution against Tehran - increasing the risk of new sanctions - and following the downfall of Syria's President Bashar al Assad, a long-time ally of the Islamic Republic.

Saudi officials to Trump's envoys: there will be no normalization - without the cessation of the war in Gaza.

In recent weeks, officials close to Trump met, including Steve Witkoff - his special envoy to the Middle East (his visit was reported by @BarakRavid) and heard this message from Saudi officials including Crown Prince Bin Salman.

Trump's people also heard that the Saudis are demanding a statement on "a path on the way to a Palestinian state." This is a demand that is the hardening of the Saudi conditions for the settlement, compared to those that existed before October 6..
