Wondering if anyone has thought about the possibility of India stopping arms shipments from Russia to open up more potential contracts with the US or Europe? I honestly am surprised that they still continue to buy russian hardware but thats just me.

Trumps worked hard for this but it has been an ongoing process over last several years.

If the US continues to treat India as an equal partner it will continue.

Cutting off all military purchases from Russia is a still in question. A lot of what India is buying from the west is higher tech systems and support systems. Which is what India needs at this point in their military development. Which is something Russia. Really doesn’t have at this point

A LOT of Indian military hardware is from Russia. This is why India hasn't been able to condemn Russia over their invasion and maintained neutrality; Russia stopping parts and technical support would've crippled us. However, dependence has indeed gone from 72% to around 35% in the past few years, and is slowly declining. It's a slow transition but it is happening.

Yeah, but they can mitigate it, by new infrastructure - however it will still have the impact making export more expensive and not able to compete then.
 
Any announcements from China now that the shooting has begun between India and Pakistan? I hope intelligence agencies are keeping a close watch on what China is doing as China may take advantage of the fog of war to make some moves in that region...
 
WAR UPDATE — MAY 7, 2025 | 0305Z

India and Pakistan are now in active, open warfare across the Line of Control.

Continuous explosions are being reported in Poonch, Indian-controlled Kashmir. Heavy artillery, missiles, and machine gun fire are being heard on livestreams across the region.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated: “Pakistan has every right to respond forcefully to this act of war imposed by India, and a forceful response is being given.”

The President of Pakistan has called an emergency meeting of the National Security Committee.

Multiple military flares have been spotted over Kashmir. Air raid sirens are sounding. Sustained machine gun fire and aerial bombardments are audible from multiple sources.

Pakistani media claims more than a dozen Indian targets have been hit, including Srinagar Air Base and a brigade HQ.

The Pakistani Air Force claims to have shot down two Indian fighter jets. There are also unconfirmed reports of an Indian helicopter downed.

Pakistan’s airspace remains fully closed. Kashmir’s airspace is now completely empty. Both nations have activated full air defense grids.

India has stated it bombed 9 terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir.

Pakistan accuses India of targeting civilian areas and mosques.

Takbir has been heard from mosques across Pakistan. Calls for jihad are spreading. This is now spiritual, national, and military war.

We have moved beyond a regional conflict. The world is shifting into war posture.

Celebrations are erupting in parts of India after the strikes on Pakistan. Fireworks are being seen while Pakistan burns.

Pakistan’s Foreign Minister has declared India’s “reckless action” has brought both nations—both nuclear-armed—to the brink of major conflict.

VERIFIED footage of a downed Indian fighter jet is circulating. Air-to-air combat is fully confirmed.

Massive artillery exchanges are still ongoing in Jammu and Kashmir. Poonch remains under continuous bombardment.

Air raid sirens are now sounding in Muzaffarabad, Pakistan-controlled Kashmir. Pakistan has declared a state of emergency in Punjab and Azad Kashmir.

All schools and educational institutions in Pakistan’s Punjab province are closed. The civilian sector is bracing for escalation.

The UN is issuing warnings that the world “cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, the global theater is activating:

2x B-52 bombers are currently en route to Diego Garcia.

Another 2x B-52s are following — total: 4 B-52s and 6 B-2 stealth bombers in strike range.

Israel has finalized its war plans to strike Iran. These plans have already been delivered to the White House.

Targets in Iran have been selected. The fuse is lit.

New Iranian Shahed drones are currently flying over the Black Sea, heading toward Odessa — Ukraine is flaring up again.

This is no longer about Kashmir.
