The Finnish Defence Forces Logistics Command signed an indefinite partnership agreement with Componenta covering defence materiel for the ammunition and explosives sector.

The agreement is intended to ensure product availability and military security of supply under all readiness conditions. Componenta supplies products including shell bodies used by Finnish military facilities to manufacture artillery and mortar ammunition.

The Spanish Air and Space Force has accepted its first C295 search and rescue aircraft. The aircraft will join Wing 46 at Gando Air Base in the Canary Islands and begin replacing Spain’s CN235 VIGMA fleet.

Spain expects two additional C295 SAR aircraft during 2026. The wider programme includes eight SAR and eight maritime patrol aircraft, with the first C295 MPA planned for 2028, restoring Spain’s maritime patrol AND anti submarine warfare capabilities.

The Czech Republic has deployed 100 troops and combat helicopters to help defend Poland’s border under a NATO operation established following the drone attack on Poland. The Czech mission has been extended.

Czech personnel also serve in NATO command structures at Elbląg and Szczecin and participate in Baltic Air Policing and other eastern flank deployments.

Romania has operationalized and integrated the US provided Merops counter UAS system into the Romanian Armed Forces national defence posture following testing, evaluation and operational validation.

Merops uses artificial intelligence algorithms to detect, track and neutralize small aerial targets operating at low altitude, strengthening Romania’s air defence and counter UAS capabilities.

Germany has terminated the programme to construct six F126 frigates because of significant delays, projected cost increases and risks associated with replacing the prime contractor.

Continuing the programme would have increased total financing requirements from approximately €10 billion to more than €18 billion. Subject to parliamentary budget approval, Germany will instead pursue eight MEKO A-200 DEU frigates, primarily for anti submarine warfare and NATO commitments.

The first four are projected to cost approximately €6.3 billion, with an option for four additional vessels valued at approximately €5.3 billion.

Germany presented the classified Bundeswehr Defence Posture 2029 to the Bundestag Defence Committee, defining how German forces will be organized following full mobilization and linking the force structure with NATO defence plans and OPLAN DEU.

During a crisis or war, peacetime structures would be abandoned, personnel and materiel reassigned and partially active or inactive formations expanded. Germany will revise its military alerting system and mobilization plan accordingly. The framework focuses on 2029, when Berlin assesses Russia could be capable of attacking NATO territory.

The defence ministers of Hungary, Poland, Czechia and Slovakia are meeting in Budapest to discuss the V4 states roles and priorities within the Euro Atlantic security architecture, future defence spending targets and expectations for the NATO summit in Ankara.

The meeting also covers strengthening Central European security, expanding military cooperation, exchanging operational experience and coordinating shared defence interests.

The Danish Army is preparing a more enduring Arctic training presence in Greenland by institutionalizing its Arctic Endurance training cycle and acquiring additional winter equipment.

Training areas, facilities and accommodation are also being developed at Kangerlussuaq and Nuuk ahead of the coming winter.

Visegrád defence ministers agreed to support extending NATO fuel pipelines from western Germany into Central Europe, Poland and the Baltic region.

They also agreed that military exercises hosted by one V4 country should include forces from the other three and discussed immediate measures to simplify the movement of troops and military equipment across their territories.

Poland presented its modular SAN counter drone programme as a potential multinational industrial project.

Thousands of military and technical personnel from more than 40 nations are participating in NATO’s CWIX 2026 interoperability exercise at the Joint Force Training Centre in Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Hundreds of systems are undergoing tens of thousands of tests across maritime, air, cyber, space, medical and digital command capabilities during the three week exercise. All 19 CWIX focus areas are represented.

Croatia conducted the maritime phase of Borbena moć 26 at the Žirje training area with naval vessels, Rafale fighters, helicopters, air defence units, artillery, special forces and Interior Ministry special police.

Training included a Mistral 3 engagement against an aerial target, Rafale strikes against maritime targets, naval gunfire, PzH 2000 artillery fire and the boarding and seizure of an opposing vessel. The wider exercise involves more than 3,000 Croatian personnel, over 25 ships, more than 20 aircraft, helicopters and unmanned systems, plus approximately 500 allied and partner personnel.

A Romanian Air Force IAR 330 Puma helicopter launched at 03:57 after aerial targets were detected approximately 31 kilometers east of Sulina during Russian drone activity near Romania’s river border.

Romania issued an RO Alert to residents in northern Tulcea County. The alert ended at 04:23, with no unauthorized airspace incursions or impacts reported on Romanian territory. Allied structures were informed in real time.

A massive drone attack on the Crimean Bridge is reportedly ongoing right now, according to Russian media.
  • The Kerch Bridge is a key Russian supply route connecting mainland Russia to occupied Crimea, previously damaged in 2022 and repeatedly targeted to disrupt military logistics in the Ukraine conflict.
  • Ukrainian forces have recently conducted intensified drone strikes across Crimea, including on rail bridges over the North Crimean Canal and other infrastructure, as part of efforts to isolate the peninsula.
