European Council President António Costa and Commission President Ursula von der Leyen say all EU member states agreed to open the first accession negotiations cluster with Ukraine and Moldova. The first Intergovernmental Conference will open the “fundamentals” cluster, covering rule of law, democratic institutions, and core EU principles.

The same calendar also lists Kubilius receiving Admiral Pierre Vandier, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, and General Sean Clancy, Chair of the EU Military Committee.
The EU and Moldova have committed to the swift implementation of their Security and Defence Partnership and further integration of Moldova into the European security and defence architecture.
Moldova has also gained access to the EU Cybersecurity Reserve.
The EU called on Russia to withdraw all troops and ammunition from Moldova’s Transnistrian region.
