No nuclear abnormalities were reported at Japan’s Sendai, Genkai or Ikata nuclear power plants following the magnitude 7.1 earthquake in southern Japan.
Operating reactors remained online, monitoring posts recorded no abnormal radiation readings, and plant accelerations remained below automatic reactor shutdown thresholds. Genkai Unit 3 was already undergoing periodic inspection.
