Beginning roughly with WW1, artillery has always been the main tool for racking up the body count in a symmetric war. This is still true today. Nevertheless, we might be looking at a revolution in warfare - given that for the price of a basic GLRMS round you can buy ~40 suicide drones, and the price of the latter is sure to go down as manufacturing capabilities ramp up.
