Before international travel was haulted. South Africa had 500 international flights a day to the U.K & god knows how many flights the U.K had to the U.S too. It is likly already widly out there.

Maybe so? Fauci commented once that by 2022 it would be endemic in the population. What will change between now and then to make it endemic? Nothing

Sources that it’s more lethal or contagious. None of that has been established. What has been established is there is a high number of mutations on the spike protein. As of yesterday there were only 10 confirmed cases.

They are saying it's becoming the majority of cases in Southern Africa PBS news hour said. Showing how quickly it spreads and outed the Delta variant. Very alarming how quickly it dominated the cases in that region.

We must see the results. It will be weeks to a month before we see death rates. Covid is a slow killer.

PBS covered this very well & went through what we really know so far. So far spreading dramatically becoming dominant variant in region.
 
1: According to a study with a very small pool of covid patients in South Africa (<250), unvaccinated patients constituted the bulk of those infected with the new Omicron variant, providing at least some anecdotal data that existing vaccines might still be effective against it. However, it's way too early to make that determination for sure.

2: HIV proteins have been a part of the SARS-CoV-2 genome since day one of the pandemic. Your information regarding this is almost two years out of date.

3: Four HIV proteins within the Covid genome will NOT result in people being infected with HIV.

The country has identified about 100 cases of the variant, mostly from its most populated province, Gauteng, where Johannesburg and Pretoria are located.

Sure it should be watched but there is no data indicating it’s more lethal.
And the SA gov is still only reporting near 100 cases. That number has obviously increased since printing.,
However their is still no data to indicate this is more dangerous. Just a lot of “may be more dangerous”.
It should be watched yes but causing panic is irresponsible.
