Atom splitting in anger is a threshold crossing event. Anywhere
Well someone can correct me but a nuclear event that does not include the US directly has traditionally not been a incident that would prompts a defcon 1 or 2.
I’m not say this would’t apply with the war current war in Ukraine. I believe a 2 would be called for a limited tactical nuke.

But if India and Pakistan go at it that has not been a cause for a defcon one for the US.
Just clarifying here

We are worldwide. Used to be only the United States. But now we will alert for a nuclear attack anywhere.

As far as us strategic posture goes your sorta right. But we are not the us military. This community assesses threats in every theatre.

So if India and pak are getting ready to go at it we’re an orange?
I’m just saying that has not been the standard here in the past.
Yes we report on world wide events, always have. But the status alerts were traditionally centered on US - a Western Europe theaters.,

Up until this year February when Russia invaded Ukraine we hardly if ever were anything else but green.

So I don't think anyone really noticed since the level never really changed for many years before Russia invaded Ukraine.

Ok thank you for clarification,

I don't see the difference?

Might as well remove DEFCON 2 from the programming for this website to save space given that anything that warrants 2 now automatically calls for 1.
