This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 7 P.M., Tuesday, December 14th, 2010. Condition Blue: DEFCON 4. Condition Blue: DEFCON 4. Condition Blue: DEFCON 4.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are events occurring in the world theatre which require closer observation.

The situation on the Korean peninsula remains tense, but there has been no further aggression on the part of North Korea beyond its normal threats. There have been no notable troop movements, suggesting that North Korea does not plan any significant military events. South Korea has moved troops to the area of conflict and continues to hold military drills, however at this time they have moved their drills out of the area. It is reported that China has used its influence on North Korea to help ratchet down the situation, and the DEFCON Warning System believes that there will be no further planned provocation. It should be noted, however, that tensions remain high and that unintended escalation is still a possibility.

North Korea continues its unimpeded advance in nuclear weapons by establishing a light-water nuclear plant as well as unconfirmed reports of four additional uranium enrichment sites. In response to continued developing situations, Japan has called for tactical nuclear weapons in South Korea. North Korean defense minister has stated that North Korea will use nuclear weapons against its enemies.

The United States was caught off guard when China revealed twenty-five models of unmanned aircraft, demonstrating rapid development of the technology. One model was demonstrated in a video attacking a U.S. carrier. In an attempt to further assert its dominance in the region, China has dispatched its fastest and most sophisticated patrol vessel to the disputed East China Sea. Further, China has planned to provide Pakistan with another nuclear reactor, while Turkey conducts further joint exercises with China and Russia signs a military cooperation agreement with the country. Additionally, and alarmingly, China has been able to maneuver two satellites close together, a technically difficult achievement, one which is useful when designing killer satellites.

New war fronts develop further as Internet traffic was rerouted through China servers, compromising secure data transactions including government and military transmission. In response to a potential cyber attack, the United States has established the U.S. Cyber Command, which is responsible for protecting military computers from attack. The U.S. military has also expressed concern about economic warfare and has begun planning war theories along an economic attack. The DEFCON Warning System regards U.S. economic vulnerability to be extremely high and likely to increase even further due to the continual expansion of U.S. national debt.

The United States, for its part, has forged ahead with a deal to sell to Saudi Arabia fighter jets and helicopters despite questions about the stability and loyalty of the country. Further adding to the holes in U.S. defense, sophisticated tunnels have been found on the southern U.S. border, which are difficult to detect, allowing unfettered access to the United States. Windmill farms, scattered across the country, have been found to produce holes in radar defenses, providing blind spots for enemy aircraft to traverse. New windmills are being produced which do not cause this effect. The U.S., to appease the Russians, will offer Russia access to military satellite data in exchange for Russian participation in a European missile defense shield. Russian participation includes the ability to object to parts of the programme as well as likely access to the technology.

Iran remains the centre of attention in the Middle East as the U.S. investigated reports that the country is sending medium range ballistic missiles to Venezuela, which some have characterised as the 21st century Cuban Missile Crisis. Further, Iran also continues completely unimpeded in its nuclear progress as the country announces that it has become completely self-sufficient in the nuclear fuel cycle, and has fueled the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Iran is also developing a large fleet of suicide ships, packed with explosives in their hulls, to ram enemy vessels.

One other event of notable significance occurred during this reporting period: India has successfully tested a short-range missile capable of carrying a nuclear payload. While intended to defend against its enemy Pakistan, it represents yet another proliferation of trigger technology.

The DEFCON Warning System is a private enterprise which monitors world events and assesses nuclear threats against the United States by national entities. It does not evaluate individual terrorist threats and does not report on them except in cases of hard intelligence. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.

If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. This system serves the Kettle Falls area of Northeast Washington. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.

This concludes this broadcast of the DEFCON Warning System.
