There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time.
The United States plans to augment their SM-6 missile to turn it into a long range ship killer in an effort to stay ahead of Russian and Chinese tech while also boosting nuclear weapon spending in a bid to update its aging nuclear arms. In response to the ongoing actions in Ukraine and Syria, the U.S. is to station hardware in a Norwegian cave near Russia. The United Kingdom is sending five warships to the Baltic as part of a buildup against Russia while Russia has reactivated the 1st Guards Tank Army.
Russia is to cut 5% from their military budget due to economic conditions. This, on top of a 4% cut in 2015. Russia and the United States have announced a cease fire in Syria, though experts are not confident the peace will hold, especially considering how open to interpretation the accord is. Meanwhile, Russia encircles Turkey by signing an air defense agreement with Armenia while Russia is accused by Turkey of continued air-space violations.
China plans to launch 40 Beidou Navigation Satellites which are claimed to assist in navigation to rival the U.S. Global Positioning System. The country is also deploying a SAM site and fighters in contested South China Sea as well as building a large structure believed to be a radar system on South China Sea island. Australia increases its military spending, citing concerns over China.
North Korea has launched another rocket, further testing its ballistic missile tech. Meanwhile, South Korea and the United States are to begin talks to deploy THADD missile defense system in South Korea while South Korea begins to debate having its own nuclear deterrence. Additionally, South Korea and the United States are to have the largest military exercise to date in the area, sure to provoke North Korea. An additional provocation will come as the U.N. is set to impose additional sanctions on North Korea for its recent nuclear test. North Korea has restarted its plutonium reactor.
