Own? The US murdered Saddam Hussein and Bin Laden without trial; even the Nazis got a trial. Russia annexed Crimea properly.
Incorrect Hussein was capture by US soldiers. Turned over to iraqi officials. Then tried and executed by a Iraqi court.
Bin Laden was hunted down and killed after repeatedly taking credit for 9/11 publicly.
And to be honest in war where your dealing with an enemy who has not surrendered they’ve chosen to stay at war so they are Killed as an enemy combatant.

DWS point is well taken. The point of discouraging war is to prosecute it as quickly and efficiently as possible. The quicker the war can be fought the casualties will be lower.
Also the cost of going to war or provoking another to war should be counted carefully. If you believe your success is limited or the cost to yourself will be to much then maybe don’t pick a fight.
In war there is no such thing as a fair fight. There is simply survival and winning.
Everything else is just make-up on a pig.
It’s still just a pig.

Considewring the last talk between Putin and Biden, IMHO it is confirmed that there is nothing to be worried about.
It was already "strange" that a diplomatic meeting for a very very serious situation was scheduled calmly far beyond Christmas holidays.
Furthermore, the phone call was asked by Putin, not Biden, and Biden didn't deign to make himself available before the snack time, at 15:30 Washington D.C., while Putin had to accept the phone call late at night: it is obvious that they could have agree on a reasonable time for both, so it is pretty clear that it was Putin to ask the call and that Biden wanted to point it out.
Finally, as we know, the phone call hasn't landed on anything in particular but chatter.
IMHO the possibilities are 2: or Putin backed because he was just bluffing, but I don't think so, or all that stuff was just a mummery between US and Russia that will go on till 13 Jannuary, but that is actually already over.

That or we’re looking at another instance of: "I believe it is peace for our time. Go home and get a nice quiet sleep."
