Personally I am both concerned and relieved that they planning counter-measures. Though some people have pointed out that it might not be that effective as most Europe Power Plants are Gas operated. Most boilers are Gas too.

I hope this winter is not bitter in more ways than one. This could escalated things if Russia decides to turn the taps off in Europe.

Yes. Considering that the world we live in depends heavily on electrical power, any attempt to turn off the pipes would surely escalate things quickly.
I mean... I don't think Europe is just going to sit and take it while they freeze right?
