Aducanumab targets a protein called amyloid, which forms abnormal clumps in the brains of people with Alzheimer's

The first new treatment for Alzheimer's disease for nearly 20 years has been approved by regulators in the United States, paving the way for its use in the UK.

Aducanumab targets the underlying cause of Alzheimer's, the most common form of dementia, rather than its symptoms.

I am always skeptical of major medical breakthroughs. But this is the first drug to target the reason why it happens and NOT just treat symptoms.

From my understanding it's like curing HIV. If it turns to AIDS it's to late but if caught early we can cure HIV. Seems to be same thing here. Catch Alzheimer's early enough we can stop it.
