In 1951, A.C. Gilbert, inventor of the ERECTOR set, released the U-238 Atomic Energy Lab. Using real radioactive materials, one could witness mist trails created by particles of ionizing radiation.

The set included four Uranium-bearing ore samples, and originally sold for $49.50.

Really? I remember some of the atomic mania stuff, national geographic's glowing (hehe) articles on the wonders of gamma-buzzed weenies that were scintilatingly delicious sitting on a plate in a Tallahassee rubbish tip for nine years and the Atomic Powered Passenger Car of Tomorrow! (which still had a kerb weight 1800lbs less than an escallade)
