I Can Feel It in the Air Tonight

Allow me to say that it feels surreal to see the US far right advocating for women's rights.

But hey, I stand with you on that count.
I'm actually pretty close to the center. It just seems YOU are extreme left, so it looks like I'm extreme right to you.

Yes, well, Einstein was right - it's all relative.

As for self-identification, I've always thought of myself as a liberal - becoming slightly more conservative as the years go by.
  • On the economy - I endorse free-market capitalism and open competition, with some rudimentary state regulations to ensure that it does not devolve into exploitation. I'm against printing money, and I believe state budgets need to be balanced, even if that comes at the expense of social programs.
  • On healthcare - I think everyone should be entitled to a basic level of care at the state's expense. This may potentially involve long waiting times for medical services, and lack of access to more advanced forms of therapy. If you want premium service - you need to pay for it yourself (or get private insurance).
  • On reproductive rights - I'm pro-choice, and I think the state has no business peeking under the citizens' blankets.
  • On religion - no problem with individual religiousness. I dislike organized religion and believe churches should pay taxes. I also think that the separation of church and state should be rigorously enforced.
  • On guns - I don't mind individuals owning guns by permit (requiring, at a minimum, psychological evaluation and some basic training in firearm use).
  • On free speech - I strongly oppose all forms of censorship. However, I do not regard fact-checking as censorship, and while I believe everyone should be free to say what they want, I also think everyone should be held responsible for the consequences of their words - which may extend to criminal responsibility (you know, that whole "shouting fire in a crowded theatre" thing).
Whether that adds up to "extreme left" is in the eye of the beholder. :)

Hey, how about that. We agree on most things. You sound like MAGA CULT person. Or I guess in your case it would be MPGA Cult. The only things I differ on are abortion. There are enough forms of birth control available today that there should never have to be any abortions. I believe life starts at conception. We pretty much agree on religion however, if the state teaches evolution, then it should also teach creationism. On health care our beliefs are similar. If you need health care you should get it. I disagree that the state should pay for it though. Routine health care and medicines should be cheap enough for people to pay for it themselves. Get rid of the middleman that I feel is ripping people off. The only insurance people should really need is major medical for serious long term hospital stays.
