Information query on food supplies

Does anyone have info on the inventory levels of food distribution centers, Either from national chain distribution centers or industry wide distribution sources. Not store level shortages but major distribution sources is what I’m referring to.
Just curious how food stocks are after initiating the shutdowns.
Frozen food now seems to be the most consistently depleted category. But that is just in my area.

I just read a headline where meat producers are shutting down due to infections. So we may start having supply problems in that area, depending on how big this thing grows.

Yet there was a report out of Wisconsin were the Dairy producers were having to dump milk for some inexplicable reason.
Yet Groceriers are limiting quantities on milk.
What ever happened to turning excess milk into WIC cheese.
Damm the beaurocrats and number crunchers who are holding to price protection policies to protect their fiefdom

There was a headline on drudge about this. It said Tyson was having to shut down some operations, and diverting meat to other facilities.

I saw a post that food distribution centers w of Mississippi are running low and there was some redistribution taking place from E of Mississippi.
It was however not from a trusted source, kinda like the guardian, prone to hyperbole.
That’s why I put out a query on it.
I see no concern to the food supply just curious.
If it continues to spread into those industries it might change but I don’t honestly foresee it.

At my local grocery store this past weekend, it was fully stocked with meat and all the essentials. The only thing I saw is that the Spaghetti Nazis had pillaged the pasta section, and the soap Nazis had pillaged the hand soap.

If the chicken plants start shutting down, we will know here. Our town has two of them. So far they have been going strong, and we haven't seen any slow down in feed deliveries to the local farms with chicken houses.

Wal-Mart had some bathroom tissue available. But it was early in the morning. They seem to be doing okay on paper towels, though they aren't overflowing like they used to.

Antiseptics are in short order everywhere, supply chain is coming back online in Kansas.

Iowa Sends National Guard Troops to Defend Meat Plants From Virus
(Bloomberg) -- Hundreds of National Guard personnel are being activated in Iowa as coronavirus sweeps through meat-processing plants in a state that accounts for about a third of U.S. pork supply.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds said 250 National Guard members have been moved to full-time federal duty status and could help with testing and contact tracing for workers at plants operated by Tyson Foods Inc. and National Beef Packing Co.

Activating guard soldiers is the latest attempt to contain the disease, which has forced a growing number of slaughterhouses and meat-processing plants to slow or halt operations.

The disruptions are stoking concerns for eventual fresh-meat shortages in grocery stores as well leaving some farmers without a market for their animals. That’s pushing down prices for hogs and cattle, while making meat more expensive. Wholesale pork posted its biggest three-day gain in six years.

“At some point we’re going to have to be talking about euthanizing hogs, and we’re not that far from it,” Reynolds told reporters. “And that would be devastating, not only for the food supply but for the cost of food going forward.”

The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced a $19 billion bailout to help farmers hurt by the coronavirus outbreak, including $3 billion in purchases of meat and dairy products.

On Monday, JBS SA said it was closing a pork plant in Minnesota. Governor Tim Walz had raised the possibility that some workers there may have fallen ill from another outbreak at a Smithfield Foods Inc. pork plant in South Dakota.

“As we all learn more about coronavirus, it is clear that the disease is far more widespread across the U.S. and in our county than official estimates indicate based on limited testing,” Bob Krebs, president of JBS USA Pork, said in a statement. “We have taken aggressive actions to keep coronavirus out of our plant and keep this critical infrastructure facility operational.”

Wal-mart had more bathroom tissue than last time, but again it was early in the morning.

Paper towel supply hasn't returned to normal, but the shelves had more than last time and way more than bathroom tissue.

We'll see how the meat supply goes over the next few weeks.

My biggest concern is a few months down the line as the economic wounds get infected.

We're still finding all our immediate needs being met by the local supply. We're still getting extra to bulk up our larder supply. I know that isn't the "correct" thing to do, but I have a family to protect.

Correct thing to do? 😏

If it’s for sale and you have the money to purchase it it’s no ones business.
Before stocking up was made fun of a d demonized.
So much for their advice for 72 hour supplies.
If it’s not immoral, illegal or dangerous what’s to complain about.
Doing the opposite would be immoral and dangerous with a family to care for

A lot of plants have been shutting down both in the US and Canada. We're purchasing a 1/4 cow for our deep freeze and stockpiling enough food to last both of us 1 year. We're also planting a vegetable garden in our back yard. This in addition to any deer or geese I can shoot if things go really wild weasel.

Poacherrrrr! 😏
I’m Already scoping out the nightly deer movements in my neighborhood.
NVG with a Reddot allows me about a thirty yard shot w/ my crossbow🤫
I don’t know how close we are to wild weasel scenario but short of a nuclear war or EMP this has put us on that path closer than anything could have.
I still believe we have a path to pull out of it but the future isn’t written yet.
It’s very sobering.

I see this as a no-win scenario. There is no solution that will allow for both keeping civilians at home where they're safe and keeping the economy going. In fact, I think any attempted solution is going to end with a wrecked economy and a lot of dead Americans, Will we get through it? Yeah, probably. But I think it's going to be a while before we see a way of life anywhere close to what we enjoyed last year. And I think it's going to get much, much worse before we start to come out the other side of it.

For geese, I don't even have to leave my yard. I could stand on my front porch and tag one within 50 feet with my bow. Deer hang out by the creek about 1/4 mile from the house. I've got a choice between my bow using arrow tips for big game or my .50 muzzle loader, depending on the tactical situation.

I'm preparing for a worst-case scenario. Our stimulus checks are going straight towards food preps, firewood, weapons and ammunition. All items that will get used eventually if the worst doesn't happen. But I don't think Dustin Hoffman is going to pull our asses out of the fire at the last second this time.

Well we’ve been on lockdown where I’m at for a month. We’ve gone from 10 cases to 50.
I go to the grocery store or farm store and their packed.
All that the lockdown achieved is it funneled everyone into six stores rather than 50. Everyone’s running around with homemade mask and probably reusing them throughout the day.
My wife has to tell friends no you can’t come over.
I heard today our gov extended the lockdown through May.
Im seriously thinking about breaking out one of the full face respirators at work and just wearing it to freak everyone out at the store.
Strap on my mad max machete and tomahawk and drag a Nagan ball bat through the store. Bet I wouldn’t have any personal space issues in the isle would I 😂
