I have to admit, every year we see some headline about a new disease that is going to turn "pandemic". I'm seeing these headlines as more click-bait now than a real looming disaster.

Yeah but this one seems serious cause they still dont know how it spreads and mortality rate cant be said yet due to low confirmed around 300 infected and i guess chinese holding back some infos on it cause it already spent to a lot of countries and has 9 day of not showing symptons so could be much more infected.

Yeah it feels like its like the propaganda numbers like the Russians did with Chernobyl 300 would be too low to really spread that far like Australia. Anyway lets hope for the best that they can somehow contain it and doesnt widespreads accross the world cause it would be horrible to have a virus going through the planet like this,+ Corona viruses tends to mutate fast.

WHO could be the reason something like this kills half or more of the world's population. They have the power to shut down a country to save others and won't because of the almighty dollar. Containment is the key. But one countries economy is more important. The bigger picture is why they exist. Yet it is to inconvenient to consider.

It's still a good idea to keep an eye on things like this. Look at the norovirus.

Jan. 22, 2020 5:54am EST -Wuhan coronavirus death toll rises to nine with 453 infected says China, sparking fears of wider spread (CNN) https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/22/asia/china-wuhan-coronavirus-deadly-intl-hnk/index.html

Like DCWS Director said, we see these new disease pop up every year (sometimes multiple times a year) and the news media causes a scare. We've seen contagion diseases pop up suddenly and then leave as suddenly many times. Will this one? Yesterday the CDC published info about the coronavirsus and said that it was unlikely the disease would reach the US. That was less than 24 hrs ago.

Humanity is due for a major pandemic. It's coming. Bacteria is becoming more & more resistant to antibiotics and people are facing serious complication from infections that were not an issue years ago. The risk is relatively low, but there could be the "domino affect" ... the man traveled on a plane that has recirculated air, people are most contagious before symptoms show up (which is right when he flew), so everyone on the plane should be contacted and isolated too until they are cleared and not showing symptoms. Otherwise those people are also now out in public and coming in to contact with more people ... and it grows exponentially.

The problem is, we become deaf to all these dire warnings, and then when a real pandemic happens, we aren't listening.

The media is to blame just as much as any virus is.

British scientists at Imperial College now estimate 4,000 people have been infected with China coronavirus

UPDATE: Report estimates 4000 cases #coronavirus #2019nCoV Our estimate at 4,000 cases is more than double the past estimate due to increase of number of cases outside China. This should not be interpreted as implying the outbreak has doubled in size.
