Yes, absolutely. I fully agree.
Pays to remember the Civil War was
by far the bloodiest conflict in American history, with the total number of American casualties exceeding the Independence War, WW1, WW2, Korea, Vietnam and Iraq
combined. And all those guys had were muzzle-loaded rifles and wildly inaccurate six-pounders.
Now imagine the same conflict, but on a much grander scale, with automatic weapons, modern artillery and nukes. However bad you think it'll be, it's actually going to be worse.
The sane argument would then go roughly along the lines of "let's not have another civil war", but I doubt that's what's on the mind of those far-right militias. Plus, while they claim to be arming themselves against some imaginary foreign enemy - it is, in fact, their fellow Americans they intend to shoot. Guess I'll be excused for distrusting their motives and generally regarding them as a bunch of evil f***s.
There is many a boy here today who looks on war as all glory, but, boys, it is all hell.
