Only weeks after U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth stated during his visit to Manila, that the United States is committed to the defense of the Philippines where it will soon deploy the Navy Marine Expeditionary Ship Interdiction System (NMESIS).

U.S. Marines with the 3d Marine Littoral Regiment (3d MLR), based at Marine Corps Base Hawaii, were spotted yesterday at Cagayan North International Airport in the Northern Philippines, unloading equipment including several NMESIS Launchers.

The 3d MLR, which was provided with a number of NMESIS Launchers last year, will reportedly participated in Exercise Balikatan 25 in the Philippines between April 21 - May 9, which is an annual joint-exercise to simulate the defense of the Philippines against aggression from China.

In addition to the Australian Defense Force, for the first time the exercise will also include the Japan Self-Defense Force as well as 16 observer nations, which includes Brunei, Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand, United Kingdom and Vietnam.
