New thread split from middle east report thread. With things heating up specifically in Gaza wanted to make thread JUST FOR GAZA outside of main report thread as Israel Cabinet Approves Plan to occupy all of Gaza.

A recent meeting of the Israeli security cabinet turned highly tense during discussions on military plans for the #Gaza Strip, #CNN reported Friday, citing an Israeli official.

The exchange reflected deep internal divisions over the course of the Israeli war on Gaza and sharp differences in views regarding the available "options" for the territory.

I get Israeli motivation here, and don’t necessarily disagree with them.
It is however going to be harder to do than we might expect.

Should've been done along time ago.
You might be correct, here is the thing.

Conflicts occur and they either escalate to full blown war till there is a definitive winner.

Or they die down because the causes of the conflict are more about posturing than existential issues.

Or they’re artificially deescalated by mostly outside forces (other larger nations or supranational organizations). I say artificially because when ever outside pressure brings a conflict to an unanticipated end. It has not done so by actually solving the source of the conflict.

So while I do celebrate the peace initiatives the Trump admin has succeeded at in just seven months and do actually believe they are worthwhile. Just as when any American or foreign leader is able to deescalate a conflict or regional war. I know they are at best just a patch. Without real constructive dialogue between the parties the reasons for the conflict will almost always reemerge.
India and Pakistan are a prime example. Just as the Palestinians are.

In the West we are loath to let conflicts escalate and determine a winners and losers. Either for reasons of human suffering or fear of escalation into regional or nuclear confrontation.

So we walk this balancing beam of deescalation cycles desperately hoping productive dialogue and rebuilding might actually walk the parties involved beyond historic differences and blood feuds.

Starvation will work. Make food available elsewhere and people will move to its location.

Note I am not talking about intentionally depriving anyone. Food supply is critical in a war zone and the food drops are insufficient. Besides Hamas steals most of the food drops and almost all of the overland deliveries.
I am talking about making food and shelter readily available via great effort, outside the objective area.

People walking to get food are going to have to leave rockets and long guns behind.

In the face of mounting international condemnation, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu defended his plan for a military occupation of Gaza City. At a news conference Sunday, he lashed out at what he called a “global campaign of lies,” while the U.N. Security Council gathered for an emergency meeting on Gaza.

The Israeli military announced that Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir had approved a “general plan” to expand the offensive in the Gaza Strip.

Israel has said it intends to launch a new offensive and regain control of Gaza.

Israel approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposed plan for the complete occupation of Gaza on August 6.

Under the plan, the Israeli military would be tasked with taking control of Gaza City, home to some 800,000 Palestinians.

The policy has drawn international criticism.
