I just ordered two of these. The fact that they are 10 watts puts them way above most handhelds you can buy in the states. Gives you a lot more range without a repeater. Excellent price for radios you might never need. One tip, however: Make sure you program them *before* you put them in your preps. You're not going to have time to do it when you need them, especially without being able to program them by computer interface.

Riff raff I have handheld and have had a hard time programming them. I only have a iPhone and Ipad. Suggestions or good link to accomplish this?
It’s the Baofang 8 watt by the way. Tried the CHIRP website and download the files but they wouldn’t run very well could be me doing something wrong on my end.

I've never tried to run the CHIRP software on a mobile device. I have it installed on a Linux laptop and an old Windows 7 laptop and program the radios via USB cable. You can program them from the on-board keypad but it's a pain in the ass.

If you have a friend who is willing to let you use their computer, I would try it that way.
