Poland issues shocking warning of upcoming Russian attack on NATO countries

The head of Poland's national security agency has said NATO countries need to be on high alert for a Russian attack within the next three years.​

Poland has warned of a shocking impending Russian attack on the West that could come within the next three years.

In an interview with Nasz Dziennik, the head of Poland’s national security agency, Jacek Siewiera, said that Russia could attack NATO countries within 36 months.
Siewiera argued Russia could attack Poland, Estonia, Romania, and Lithuania as they are on NATO's eastern flank.

He said: “If we want to avoid war, NATO countries on the eastern flank should adopt a shorter, three-year time horizon to prepare for confrontation. This is the time when a potential must be created on the eastern flank that would be a clear signal deterring aggression. Therefore, it is necessary to further increase the number of Polish troops.”

This comes after German think tank German Council on Foreign Relations issued a warning that Europe needs to be on high alert to Russian escalation that could result in a direct attack. But their time frame was a little more optimistic.

They said in a statement: "With its imperial ambitions, Russia represents the greatest and most urgent threat to Nato countries.

"Once intensive fighting will have ended in Ukraine, the regime in Moscow may need as little as six to ten years to reconstitute its armed forces.

"Within that timeframe, Germany and NATO must enable their armed forces to deter and, if necessary, fight against Russia. Only then will they be in a position to reduce the risk of another war breaking out in Europe.”
Poland's warning coincides with the White House's announcement that its aid for Ukraine would dry up "by the end of the year" after supporting the country's military for nearly two years.

IMO, for this to happen, Russia would need to bring its current war to a swift end, and It would need sanctions to somehow be lifted. No other way they could possibly re-arm and rebuild their military to a point where they could attempt something like that.

That makes sense.
Could this announcement by Jacek Siewiera be an attempt by the ruling Polish PiS party to set the stage for PiS retaining power through "fear"? Not sure what Siewiera's party affiliation is, but @Socom7 has previously suggested that PiS may not step aside willingly. Is this declaration the first step in a PiS attempt to try to sidestep the results of the recent election through extra-parliamentary means?

I agree - I think this Polish position is rash and currently implausible. The Polish leadership might have a different goal in making this statement.....

But then again, Stalin did not think Hitler would attack, and they did have a non-aggression pact. So who knows what goes on in the mind of crazy dictators.
