Poland to form National Guard.

I don't know if this is supposed to be laid down here, but I found it quite interesting that at this times this happens. :|
Sources are all in polish language so I'll translate the most importants things for You guys.

Even 300 000 people may be able to join National Guard in Poland - the paramilitary organisation that, in case of war, will be fighting alongside regular military. They will be able,for example, to do such things as: defending civilians or will help to patrol borders in time of war. Then - in time of peace - they will be helping to deal with natural disasters etc.

Now, I don't know if it's just me or is it looking like we are starting to prepare for war in Poland?
I mean, 300 000 voluntary troops? Of course there won't be that much of volunteers IMO, but how long will it stay voluntary?
They are also saying that this project starts THIS year and will continue till those jobs will be 'fitted', people 'prepared' (for what?).

I don't really know what to think about it.
I will join that formation for sure, though.

So am I. If Poland is doing this then they must think they are in extreme danger. Creating a reserve force isn't necessarily a bad idea though.

Well, we do have reserve army and then there is something like it at Southern Poland thats similiar to National Guard.

Will they be US Trained as we seem to possibly have the worlds most militarily active National Guard?

I have absolutely no idea how this will be going.
There will be instructors, but I guess for sake of polish jobs etc they'll be simply polish soldiers.

Then, on the other hand, US may get involved and train some of them, too.
Who knows? I bet even our minister of defence doesn't know it yet.
I'd enjoy training with US National Guard.
We could definitly use some of their experience in this area.

We'll see how it'll go in the next year, when it's expected to kinda "grow".

Missiles were originally supposed to be delievered somewhere in 2016, but suddenly our government speeds up the deal and wants them even faster.
I have completely no idea why are they doing this. :?

Even our Minister of Defence said at Twitter that they're going to make official statement about this rush tomorrow.

Agreed, everyone seems to be on high alert but I'm not exactly sure as to what they expect to be the powered keg.

While Syria itself is quite the cluster, I really don't see why NATO expects it to spark a war. There are obvious two different agendas at play there, but full on war over it?

Then there is Ukraine, which seems to be calming down (or at least not escalating further). Unless there is a huge media silence around Ukraine, I don't see it being the hotspot.

If Russia wants Ukraine, all they have to do is wait out the pending collapse (typical of NATO intervention) and give the Ukrainians an offer they can't refuse. No invasion necessary.

Do European countries really expect WWIII scale of conflict over either theatre?!

Then again, we, in Poland, kinda want to get ready just in case.
I mean, check what was happening in history.
We've got plenty of good reasons to keep getting new weapons and arming ourselves up.
It's not like many people in here still think that Germany is a threat... But some do.
As well as Russia.

Then again, it seems like the main line of defence would be @ Vistula river.
So yeah... We people, that live in the eastern part of Poland kinda kept learning Russian language for a reason. I guess.
It's not liek our governments abbandoned us before.

Which was also a historical lie. Poland was using same tanks as was using France during early WW2.
Also, even Germany was using cavalary on the battlefields of early WW2.
It's just that someone picked up Poland from the many of cavalry users @ this stage of war and kinda made it stereotipical.

Don't get me wrong though - we are very, very proud of Winged Hussars - the best cavalry that was in Europe (until arrival of tanks etc )

Our first line of defence will be probably placed at German border due to fact we've become their state with Ewa Kopacz kinda diggin' Merkel's ass..
But hell, we ain't here for THAT kind of politics, are we? :lol:
