Poroshenko Warns of Full-Scale Russian Invasion

President Petro Poroshenko has told MPs the military must prepare to defend against a possible "full-scale invasion" from Russia, amid a surge of violence in eastern Ukraine.
Russia has denied that its military is involved in Ukraine, but Mr Poroshenko said 9,000 of its troops were deployed.
Clashes involving tanks took place in two areas west of Donetsk on Wednesday.
There was a "colossal threat" that large-scale fighting would resume, the president told parliament in Kiev.
The outbreak of violence, in the government-held towns of Maryinka and Krasnohorivka, was among the worst in eastern Ukraine since a ceasefire was signed in Minsk in February.
International monitors from the OSCE said that in the hours before and during the fighting around Maryinka a large amount of heavy weapons was spotted moving towards the contact line in rebel-controlled areas.

Multiple OSCE and media reports of intense fighting in Donetsk are becoming more prevelent over the last 48 hours from both sides. How much is cyber propaganda and how much is authentic is debatable. What purpose of this is unknown, but Ukraine is desperate and Russia is is being bombarded by propaganda by several Nations in concert.

IMO, I expect as Russia starts to lose, new and more dangerous situations will up the probability of accidents and miscalculations on both sides. Very worrisome developments indeed.

I really don't think Russia will go all in and try to take over Ukraine, it's not what they want. They will continue denying involvement and will eventually get what they want. Ukraine will soon fall due to economic crisis and civil unrest caused by Russia's involvement in eastern Ukraine. There doesn't seem to be a need for a full scale invasion.

It would NOT surprise me at all if Russia does a full scale invasion. Why? Because we think they would NOT do it. We downplay everything while our allies in Eastern Europe.........namely the Baltics and Poland know exactly what Russia is capable of doing. We have been wrong about everything so far involving Russia in the past 23 years.

1. We did not think Russia would take over Crimea.
2. We did not think Russia would grab parts of Eastern Ukraine.
3. We did not think Russia would violate START I but they did. I could have told our gov't that was going to happen. Russia can never be trusted.
The list continues......

We need......in my opinion.......and many of you know what I am going to say................we need to put troops, supplies, weaponry etc in the Baltics, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic etc......NOW. Not just a few hundred.

Russia understands only one language............Action. Respects only one word............Force!

What? The US wasn't involved in the Ukraine conflict at all. It was the people who ousted the old Ukrainian president. Even if their was a bit of American Sprinkles on top. Russia invaded Eastern Ukraine (well its pro-Russian rebels did). The only involvement the United States has had in Ukraine was the choosing of a government official and then sending in airborne troopers to train a Ukraine National Guard. Its the Russians causing the would be civil war, as the population was against joining Russia but the old president was for it, that's why he was ousted because he was going against the people. If he was doing what the people wanted and the government ousted him then, that would be an entirely different story.

To deny the US involvement in the revolution is naive. The US does this all the time... there are tons of examples of the USG's meddling. I'm not advocating what russia is doing, but you have to look at it from their point of view. 1-on-1 Russia is not stronger than the US. The use is doing this passive-aggressive thing that they have done with all countries that oppose Washington. Ukraine is on the border with Russia and they would be morons to just let the US overthrow the government and pull Ukraine into Nato. They would have to be absolute idiots to let that happen while not wanting to end up under US influence. This is a classic "Im going to do something I know will cause a reaction and make you look like the bad guy when you react"...

Agreed. Russia should just play the hand they have and not raise the stakes.
