Pres. Trump Orders Halt to Production of New Pennies

I've been saying for many, many, many years (not on forums but to family and freinds) that we need to rid of the penny. Why the DEMS never didn't is beyond me!

Maybe we could just shift to a material representative of its true cost.
Where already using the cheapest of the cheapest materials to make pennies. Unless you want the penny to be so physically weak you can bend it with simple efforts with your own hands.

At that point we should just get rid of the penny before it becomes chewing gum. Metaphorically and physically.

Look, I hate Trump with a flying passion. But this is actually something with logic and reason an ryme to it. It's time for the penny to go much like many of our western alliance has.

Obviously this wasn't Trump's idea, cause he's not capable of something this smart, it was obviously one of trump's aides or someone who has trump's ears to tell him that making the penny is pointless. Kudos to whoever convinced Trump of this. 👏

Either way, however, we got here, the penny needs to go.

As a franchise owner and independent business owner this is somthing EVERYONE not just right or left opinions can 110% get behind regardless who started this initiative or administrations.

Hate to give GOP credit but whoever has Trump's ears on this deserves a reward for conveniencing Trump to get rid of the useless money blackhole which is manufacturing the penny.

Eh it's going to hurt more people than ya think, Especially in those neighborhoods where people sometimes have to 'count their pennies' to pay for simple things. You're probably right it will be a good thing for our government spending. But as usual the people who will feel the effects are at the bottom, where they can be easily ignored. It'll be funny to watch this trend progress as someone that will hopefully see well into the 2060s. I mean how long until inflation is so high they can't produce quarters? That would be something haha

As someone who owns businesses I can admit sometimes I forget the common class struggle....

But at a government fiscal policy and as someone who is on the left and owns businesses I can tell you this is a good thing.

They did this in Australia years ago, stopped production of 1 and 2 cent coins. Still legal tender but no longer made. The modern day equivalent is a 5cent coin but they are looking as ceasing this one also. Is very hard to get rid of these coins nowdays despite being legal tender as banks and stores do not want them. They also stopped making paper $1 and $2 notes several years ago replacing them with coins. It is amazing how rapidly a small fortune builds with these coins. Despite these changes the economy adapted. I also even have some $5 coins that were released in 1988 but they never went ahead with phasing the $5 note out however.

Might not be that far away or at all unreasonable.
