Report for Oct 30, 2022. This is the final daily report because the exercises for NATO are supposed to be in completion.
Monitoring started at 0800 EDt Completed 22:00 EDT.
there were a total of 15 messages.
The first message was a 216 character message which is a personal record number of characters monitored in the past 7 years. Time stamp 13:00

All other messages were standard 30 character messages 14:45
Repeated new message at 15:52 and 15:56
New message at 17:10 repeated at 17:13
New message 17:35--17:42--18:13--18:42 19:45
New message at 18:00 18:06
Last message 20:32 and 21:41

Conclusion of exercise time frame. During this exercise there were two separate record number of character messages. one was 166 and the one today was the all time high of 216. Messages were mostly in the 1/4 hr segments, versus top and bottom of the hour. Several messages did not match on the repeat, which I'm guessing would be the exercise. Sometimes there would be several hours of no traffic at all, but I could catch some conversation of military mostly on the Russian side. I even caught and reported about what I heard with the wording of sunk. Checking back, it was during the time of the incident on the Black Sea.

Since the exercises are supposed to be completed, I will no longer make daily reports of radio traffic. The only reason this was done this time, versus other exercises in the past was because of this war time footing or special operation or what ever in the hell you want to call it. The times in the past were on a peacetime footing and mostly on a defcon 5 rating. I'm just hoping that at least some of the worldwide tension will let up a bit.

Russia's exercises will continue for a while longer, but my knowledge of the language is not that strong to report or even formulate an opinion.

NOW, just as an FYI, I will continue to monitor, but I won't make a report unless there's something out of the norm. IF there is an authentication (God forbid) given, yes, I will post immediately. You can't rely on platforms like twitter or other newer technologies. Old school analog shortwave is still the best way to get immediate information.

I may have been a bit blunt, for which I apologize. No offense meant; we're all on edge and it's difficult to raise the right amount of concern without stoking paranoia. Speaking of, I'd like to dispute some of the points you make.
Lesson two--Bandwidth has NO RELATION in shortwave traffic, because Shortwave with voice is an analog signal.
I meant bandwidth in the IT sense, i.e. the amount of data that can be transmitted over a link in a given period of time. The bandwidth of voice communication is abysmally low, and having to spell everything out letter by letter (because of poor connection quality) makes it even more so.
ANY message above the standard 30 character is important--the more characters--the more important the message is.
This is a conjectural claim that I'm not prepared to accept without proof. The very concept seems bogus to me (intuitively, you might want to keep the important messages short). I agree that some recent EAMs have been unusual, but - to me at least - it does not follow that they were also more important.
Lesson three--Granted, a code for an actual launch will not be the 30 character,,, BUT it will have an authentication code and the voice will say authentication. #####
Yes, I know how skykings are structured. Incidentally, while certainly being important, they also happen to be very short. See previous point. ;)

My personal takeaway from all this: there's been more EAM traffic than usual in recent weeks. This is somewhat consistent with all the political and military goings-on in the world (exercises and whatnot), but it doesn't necessarily mean that - to quote your post - "we're in deep shit". It's useful to take note, but I would caution against reading too much into this stuff.

Monitoring them is useful I believe mostly to be aware of the tempo.
As we know when obvious incidents are afoot the traffic picks up usually.
For me what can be gleaned from them realistically is when we see a up tempo that doesn’t correlate to current conflicts.
It’s like monitoring air and sea traffic. If there was a imminent strike or increase in tensions those aircraft or ships will likely have their transponders off.

Looking for patterns.

I'm not sure to understand, what do you mean by authentification?
