Six-unit types possibly needed in 90 to 120 days

The U.S. Army Reserve is checking whether it can supply U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) with military police, medical units, and logistics support within the next four months, according to an internal Army message reviewed by CBS News.

The document doesn't mention Cuba, but multiple officials tell CBS the planning is aimed at the island. No units have received deployment orders. Commands were asked about six unit types possibly needed in 90 to 120 days, including military police, medical, and logistics battalions, with responses due today.

SOUTHCOM declined to comment on operational planning. This follows months of reported U.S. planning around Cuba, including seafloor reconnaissance, airpower units placed on heightened readiness, and a July report on options including a hypothetical 101st Airborne air assault, officials stressed no decision to act had been made.

At the UN this week, President Donald J. Trump said the U.S. is seeking a "fundamental change" in Cuba and predicted its government "will fall," prompting the Cuban delegation to walk out. Cuban President Díaz-Canel has accused the U.S. of "aggression" and vowed to counter any attack.

The six unit types are interesting, especially the combination of logistics, engineers, medical and military police. If the report is accurate, I’d be more inclined to read this as contingency/support planning than evidence that a deployment decision has already been made. The memo reportedly asks about availability rather than issuing deployment orders. free online games

One thing I’m wondering: since these formations would fall under SOUTHCOM, does anyone know whether there’s any indication the planning is specifically tied to Cuba, or could this simply be broader contingency planning for the Caribbean/SOUTHCOM area?

Hard to say really. The military can be pretty tricky when they want to be. Like when they said the B2s were heading for Guam and then some went dark and bombed irans nuclear facilities or the left hook in the first Gulf war. This is pretty much what I try to do here
