8 Republicans voting with Democrats to remove McCarthy. Is that bipartisanship or disloyalty?

I guess it depends who you ask.
  • Hypothetical (i.e. I have made this up) statement from President Biden: "Today the Congress, in a bipartisan effort, removed radical Republican speaker McCarthy from his leadership position. I applaud their spirit of bipartisanship to find a new path forward for the American people."
  • Hypothetical statement from Rep Tom Emmer (House Majority Whip): "Today, in an act of defiant disloyalty, 8 Republicans sided with Democrats against speaker McCarthy, disrupting the legislative agenda in the House. The Congressional agenda will now come to a complete standstill while members work to decide the next speaker."
** again - I have made these statements up to illustrate the difference. They are not real quotes from either person.

We know that parliamentary democracies potentially become chaotic when there is no clear majority and no ability to form a ruling coalition. I think we are starting to see what can happen in our republic when neither side has a significant majority but both sides want to control the agenda.

We don't need to say anything. This peice of news says it all. Lol
When you have 8 of your own go against you it's not being a traitor, it's called standing by the people who voted for you , they likely talked inside of the RNC and couldn't get anything going, so they took it to the vote.

Yup, The dems are on a roll. Let's see,

First time an ex president has been indicted in the history of the US

First time the Speaker of the House has been removed when a few dem votes would have kept him, in the history of the US

Way to go dems

Wouldn't that just become more wasteful spending? Why instead of guide towards wasteful spending we guide towards efficient spending and getting work done?

We'd save a ton of money if the Federal Government only spent money on what it is Constitutionally permitted to do.
I mean if we just follow the Constitution we will have more issues arise. Times initiate change and those times are arising every single day from covid to the refusal of the youth to do manual labor over time.

I think it's a good baseline, but it can never be the only thing we look to for the "rules".

Doctors have a baseline, but they'll veer around on higher level thinking to help support and. Cure a patient. If they only followed the baseline we'd have a higher death rate and a lower curerate. We'd likely not have progressed to modern medicine. If you look at penicillin it's against the very idea of how modern medicine enforces standards (on how it was found).
