Sri Lanka Army says a U.S. Army Pacific delegation visited Army Headquarters for bilateral defense cooperation discussions with Army Commander Lt. Gen. Lasantha Rodrigo. Sri Lanka Army described it as the first such discussion between U.S. Army Pacific Command and the Sri Lanka Army.

The United States formally transferred ten TH-57 Sea Ranger multipurpose helicopters to the Sri Lanka Air Force at Ratmalana Air Force Base.

Sri Lanka said the aircraft will support pilot training, search and rescue operations, disaster relief, emergency public service missions and preparation of aircrews for UN peacekeeping operations.
