The main goal of this initiative is to stabilize the American small shipbuilding base, increase the fleet's operational readiness, and expand competition among suppliers by involving a wide range of shipyards, as well as to equip the fleet with small ships to form a mosquito fleet component, especially useful for combat operations on various atolls and islands.
