"The Polish Armed Forces General Command (DGRSZ) resigned on Friday, March 4; put otherwise, the five most senior generals of the Polish armed forced resigned ahead of NATO’s anaconda exercise in June and Warsaw’s NATO Summit in July. Resignations include those of the joint chief of staff Ireneusz Bartniak and the commanders of land, sea and air forces.

Anaconda is a 25,000 troop Polish-led exercise that would demonstrate Poland’s ability to emerge as a security provider – or a “frame nation” – in a region that other powers have not as yet deployed troops or major weapon systems. Poland was hoping to demonstrate that its own command would be central to the coordination of multinational forces in the region. It may just do that, but Warsaw’s reputation is wounded."

This would seem to be a major blow not only to Poland but to NATO as well.

I wonder what brought this on...

Kurwa!

Jokes aside, perhaps Prz123 can ring in on this, the timing is pretty odd looking from an outside view.

:o this is big. They probably want to bug out. Just a theory, but if they wanted to leave Poland, it would be to save their neck from a crisis that they can't defeat. Russian expansion, maybe?

If this is due to an internal political conflict, expect Russia to take full advantage. Poland from what I've read is perhaps the largest strategic linchpin NATO has in eastern Europe.

Definitely. Considering their placement and their history in WW I and II, their top 5 Generals quitting is definitely a cause for alarm over there. I figure, they know something that the rest of Poland doesn't and they're not sticking around to see how it ends. My guess is they'll flee Poland. At least they retired first so they can't be called deserters.

It may just be a protest against the civilian leadership. Regardless, if I were Russia I'd. Organize a snap drill for the western military district real fast, maybe move some toys into Belarus for the lulz.

Oh that would definitely spice things up a bit. And maybe NATO can run a snap rerun of Able Archer, you know, just to keep Ivan on his toes.

Oh sure, because that couldn't go wrong.
