Trump eyes lifting sanctions, potential sale of prized fighter jet to Turkey:
FIRST ON FOX: President Donald Trump is considering lifting sanctions on and resuming the sale of fighter jets to Turkey after a conversation with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Trump expressed an intent to help finalize the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey and is open to the idea of selling Turkey its true prized goal, F-35 jets, if the two sides can come to an agreement that renders Turkey’s Russian S-400 system inoperable, two sources confirmed to Fox News Digital.
That agreement could look like partially disassembling the machinery or moving it to a U.S.-controlled base in Turkey.

I have serious doubts whether Turkey will bite given how toxic the whole F-35 program has become to everyone outside of the US.

Good. I don’t like them but you can’t crush a NATO partner and ally so publicly an embarrass them and not lose them. (I would cut them lose) in the end this is a face saving mixture for both of us. Turns out the 400s a piece of crap that’s great for shoot down airlines but not modern NATO aircraft as the Israelis of routinely destroyed one after another without any losses.

So we can afford to lighten up and it’s blatantly obvious to the Turks that they chose the wrong system as the Western systems are far superior, as demonstrated against Russian aircraft and missiles in the Ukraine.

So offsetting penalties and let them buy the F 35’s and patriot batteries as well.

They will refuse

Who will refuse? Turkey is the one that wants to buy F-35s the U.S. isn’t forcing them to buy them.
Turkey will refuse because they've always played two sides: sometimes Russia, sometimes the USA. Moreover, the USA can deactivate them.
This isn't a sale, it's a scam. The F-35s will be less popular for this reason alone. This means that Trump is offering them the chance to be a country on its knees.

Wow, do opinions ever vary.

That sounds like a sales pitch line from Yakovlec Corp.

But they are actively requesting to buy them. This isn’t the U.S. trying to shove them down their throat. Also the F35 is better than any competitor available for purchase so I’m guessing the majority of purchasers will still chose them.
