Trump rejects Zelensky on Tomahawk missiles in "tough" meeting

AXIOS – President Trump told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in a tense meeting on Friday that he doesn’t intend to provide long-range Tomahawk missiles, at least for now, two sources briefed on the meeting tell Axios.

He stressed that the current U.S. proposal for a diplomatic solution is for the war to end with the front lines frozen in place — a difficult proposition for Ukraine to accept.

Zelensky’s number one priority from the visit was to get commitments from Trump not just on Tomahawks but on a variety of weapons systems Ukraine wishes to obtain, his chief of staff told Axios ahead of the meeting. Trump offered no such commitments.

Zelensky, meanwhile, held a conference call with European leaders immediately after the Trump meeting. Several of them seemed puzzled about Trump’s apparent change of heart, a source who was on the call said.” (more)
 

Drones for Tomahawks: Zelensky Offers Trump a Deal

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky offered Donald Trump a deal that Ukraine can provide the United States with “thousands of drones” if Washington allows it to use Tomahawk missiles.

This was reported by Sky News. “That’s why we can work together, where we can strengthen American production. We have a big proposition for our drones,” Zelensky said.

NATO will not allow Moscow to violate borders. In the event of new provocations, Russian aircraft must be shot down, says Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Carney says that NATO countries should keep all options open in case of new violations of their airspace by Russia, including the possibility of shooting down Russian aircraft.

Zelensky hopes that Trump will still provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles, he said in an interview with NBC News.

As the Ukrainian head of state explained, during the meeting on October 17, the US president did not say “no” to the transfer of Tomahawks, although he did not say “yes”.
