On Monday, following his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, U.S. President Donald J. Trump signed an Executive Order extending some of the strongest security guarantees — similar to those imposed under NATO Article 5 — to Qatar, with the order stating: “The United States shall regard any armed attack on the territory, sovereignty, or critical infrastructure of the State of Qatar as a threat to the peace and security of the United States. In the event of such an attack, the United States shall take all lawful and appropriate measures — including diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, military — to defend the interests of the United States and of the State of Qatar.”

Arms Deals Cancelled or Frozen with Israel Due to the Gaza War: Israel's war in the Gaza Strip has prompted many countries around the world to cancel or freeze arms deals with the occupation army, most notably Spain.

Iran Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi:

- We always pursue diplomacy, but the way we negotiate and the parties involved have changed under the current circumstances.

- Our indirect talks and messages with the US side have focused solely on the nuclear issue and not on any other issue.

- Our proposals were very clear, and the obstacle to the diplomatic process prevented us from reaching a negotiated and diplomatic solution.

- Iran was never informed of the media reports about the demands of the other parties in the negotiations.

- We pursued all diplomatic avenues, continued cooperation and consultations, and presented constructive and balanced proposals to demonstrate the peaceful nature of our nuclear program.

- We reiterate once again our willingness to reach a solution that serves the interests of both parties and strengthens confidence in our peaceful nuclear program, while preserving our rights.

Threats toward “heart of Europe” referenced by Iranian lawmaker.

After the E3 (France, Germany, UK) initiated the UN “snapback/trigger” mechanism on Aug 28, an Iranian MP claimed on Sept 20 that Iran had successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). Independent imagery reviewed by the AP indicates a likely (undeclared) missile/space launch at Imam Khomeini Spaceport around Sept 18, but Tehran has not officially confirmed an ICBM. A separate Iranian lawmaker previously boasted Iran’s missiles can hit the “heart of Europe.”
Meanwhile, a senior IRGC commander now says Iran can extend missile range beyond its long-stated 2,000 km limit “as needed.”
