The request for "Tomahawks" has increased by 1200% compared to last year and is dictated by the gradual depletion of arsenals during the current campaign in the Middle East. The new purchases are intended not only to make up for the shortage, but also to prepare the fleet for a potential confrontation with China in the Pacific Ocean.
The administration plans to allocate a significant portion of defense spending through the budget reconciliation mechanism, which will allow for the rapid approval of funding and then the conclusion of large multi-year contracts for purchases - including hundreds of Tomahawks and SM-6s - with the distribution of production over several years ahead.
All this will give defense giants, such as Raytheon (the manufacturer of both systems), guarantees for expanding workshops and hiring staff, as well as opportunities for more mass production in the future.
