It will be the first time in nearly four decades that the US will deploy launchers for its medium-range missiles in the Asia-Pacific region.
The US military received the first prototypes of the Typhon from Lockheed Martin in November 2022. The system performed well during test fires in deserts in the US. However, during testing at such conditions, the system wasn’t affected by the maritime climate, and the high humidity of the Asia-Pacific region.

Garren Mulloy, an international relations professor at Japan’s Daito Bunka University and a specialist in military issues, feels that the US is planning to test its new missile system to see “how it performs in more testing conditions and to start training the units that will operate it.”

“There is limited data available about Typhon and I expect this is part of the ongoing development process, to get it in-theatre to see how it performs,” said Mulloy.

The SM-6 interceptor missile is the most significant system in this quiver.
This article alludes to the possibility a system like this could be linked to a THAAD or Ageis ashore spy radar system.
While it is impossible that any balistic defense system could stop a massive balistic attack. It will certainly have a deterrent to any one off ballistic attack.
So good deal👍
