Volcano eruption on La Palma could cause a Mega-Tsunami

I will be in my boat on the west coast of Florida with coolers of water, food and flood insurance papers in the dry box 😆.
I already wrote it and I will repeat it for you, the worst case Mega Tsunami would have the speed of an airplane and the weight of a million tons.
Water at the speed of sound cuts through steel like a hot knife through butter.

It will crush everything in it's path, there is no chance to survive on the coast.

I don't care what you wrote. A mega is not cutting steel. I will break beams sure but it's not cutting anything as water has to be focused like a laser to do that.

A mega tsunami is the least likely event to happen from a landslide there. There will be one but how large by most estimates I have seen are something like the Sumatra or Japanese quake at worst.

It won't be moving that fast. It will be either equivalent to the Japanese quake or twice that size at best by time it gets across the pond.

Now if a mile wide comet hit the Atlantic ocean at the speed of a bullet then everyone east of the Mississippi is going to get a bath but that will probably be the best way to go rather than be torched by the fire after.

So if this worst case, mega tsunami hits the east coast, how far inland could the devastation and death go. Sounds like it’s inevitable at some point sooner than later. And can Russian nuke subs still travel through it
Any boat can if the water is deeper than the dept the Tsunami originated in.
They are only dangerous to ships in shallow water where the wave will start to rise up. A sub will feel it for sure but unless it's in a bad position near the bottom, it will be fine. In a big Mega wave situation a sub would be rolled around on the bottom like a tin can in the breakwater.
Scuba boats off Japan were some of the first to realize a huge wave was heading to Japan because it tossed around the divers and I think some were lost because the water clarity went to zero and they couldn't keep the wave from taking them away.
I'm sure a few divers were smacked against the rocks which was how they were kept from being drug away.

Même si le tsunami ne faisait que 5 mètres de haut, la côte aurait toujours disparu.

you should not confuse tsunami with rising waters

you should not confuse tsunami with rising waters
I didn't but it's a helpful tool to show your where the water is going.
And the water level will rise permanently after the land slide but not that much.
It can't tell you how much water is flooding in, the calculations are very complex.

Not much talk about this here, but research I’ve been doing points towards the worst case scenario (not 2000, 2006, or 2016 predictions) inevitable. People should take seriously and have plans. If anyone here knows more, please share.
Experts have described the latest volcanic activity on La Palma as a "tsunami of lava".

Huge rivers of molten rock have been spewing from the crater in recent days after a 4.5-magnitude earthquake shook the island on Thursday and intensified flows.

The quake is the strongest recorded since the Cumbre Vieja volcano -- on the island of La Palma in the Spanish Canary Islands -- began erupting almost a month ago.

I have an eye on it.
It's true the quakes are getting stronger but - very slowly....
La Palma volcano erupts from 3 vents (ash plumes, lava fountains, lava flow). VEI explosivity 2.
Fountains ave 500 m high. Lava flow thru lava tubes is reported. Lava flows into the sea 6 km away.
So there are probably still some weeks or even months until the weight of the ash and lava can have an impact on the stability of this island.
The volcano spews relentless. I don't think that it will ever stop, the whole island was created by a volcano 30 million years ago.
In the long term the climatic effects of this volcano could be worrying.
It could cause a small ice age shortly and a strong global warming when the CO² levels rise drasticly,
this is not a normal volcano that erupts only for a short period of time.
What we can observe is a huge constant flame spitting out nano obsidian glass particles and sulfuric acid into the atmosphere.
Years later this will have an impact on our health.

I think this volcano is a global killer.

Don’t be a Fear-monger. There’s 0 basis for this to be a gLoBaL KiLlEr. Now if the Yellowstone Caldera were to erupt than by all means call THAT a killer. But a small constant venting? Nothing that hasn’t happened hundreds or even thousands of times before. So chill.

The output is still fairly mild. If/when it increases in violence or earthquakes, then let’s treat it accordingly. But keep in mind that this is fairly small-scaled to previous eruptions, and the thought of a mini-ice age based on what we’re seeing is laughable.

Not an insult to your intelligence, but the volcano itself. Even when St. Helens blew and spewed approximately 540 million tons of ash, global temps may have cooled by about .1C. I doubt it will match La Chicom(?)s output either in its current state.

Let’s base our opinions on what actually happens instead of fear-mongering. Thank you.

Respectfully using “global killer” does nothing to improve your reporting.
Could it affect weather patterns and possibly even climate in the short term? Yes.
But extinction level volcanic events have only been geologically tied to massive super volcano eruptions. Last one was approximately 70000 years ago.

Just wait for the winter. ⛄🌨️

You opinions are biased on the good will or what, it's not fear mongering to tell you the truth.

A short but big eruption equals the same as smaller but steady one.
You can still disagree but we will see who was right in the end.❄️

Volcanoes do not play a big direct role in ozone depletion. However, they may play a harmful indirect role. Scientists have found that sulfate aerosols produced by major volcanic eruptions accelerate ozone destruction.
The particles themselves do not directly destroy ozone but they do provide a surface upon which chemical reactions can take place. This enhances chlorine-driven ozone depletion.

Everything has been covered already over the possible threat to the US East Coast. Where just repeating information now.

This is going to be a threat for many months. Only information that should be pushed is Tsunami Preparedness:

Do not get alert fatigued from doom porn. Keep an eye on it, make a routine of it. Only thing one can do is prepare, plan, and practice those plans.
