Or as I have come to accept that the beginnings of the expansion of NATO in the late 90’s was a mistake. While it honestly I believe was benign in intentions. Its effects and reactions from Russia did not have that effect.

A lot has been said about the purposes and surprising foreign policy stances as well as actual actions the Trump administration has undertaken. Greenland, Venezuela, Iran, control of multiple ocean trade routes. All initiated in the span of the first 12 months.
There is a clear intent in it all. It is certainly a flipping of the world order. Is it wise or will it be successful remains to be seen. Nor should we necessarily expect in an international forum such as this agreement on it. I’m an American, it’s good for America.
This is not the US policing the world for the “West” or globally. This is the US policing US interest that can have incidental benefit globally. It’s not imperialism, nor isolationism, nor globalism. It’s a nation acting in their self-interest first. There is no crime or moral question to be found there. Unless of course you’re supportive of nations who have been held hostage by a totalitarian government for decades.
Regarding Trumps social media post and their chaotic and sometimes contradictory messaging.
What effect does this have, well it does frustrate our allies, it also must be confusing for our adversaries. It absolutely creates confusion and disorder.
Sun Tzu emphasized that all warfare is based on deception, suggesting that one should feign incapacity, simulate disorder, and confuse the enemy to gain the upper hand. By creating the illusion of weakness or disorder, a strategist can lure the opponent into making mistakes.
The the tools available to Sun Tzu to simulate confusion and disorder. Are not the same tools a national or military leader has today. One such avenue of deception or confusion would certainly be seen in the digital information space. Mean tweet anyone
