Just curious...
Mobile service worked during the hurricane and for about 24 hours after. But then mobile/cell service went down when the cell tower diesel generators ran dry as main grid was down for almost 2 weeks... I even told everyone publicly on forums that cell service was going to go as service for me on third day came to a snails pace, and I was offline for 5 days after the hurricane. It was actually an eye opener. 2 million people live in the bay area...When South Florida was being torpedoed by hurricanes, he was still online for much of the onslaught.

Oil terminals got damaged. For 5 days, no gas stations had gas. Even people with generators were sitting in the dark. Cell towers, as I said, went offline even though the storm had already been over for 2 days.
So yes, as long as the diesel generators do not get damaged and they get topped off after a disaster, I should always be online.
I’m thinking about getting Starlink this year before next hurricane season for this exact reason. Then, no matter what, I’ll always be online. And of course, I already have a generator and stocked fuel.
ONLY SAYING THIS as a reminder to others that yes, even if power goes down, cell service typically remain because cell towers have diesel generator backups. But if they don’t get refueled because the roads are too messed up for fuel delivery, or the fuel terminals where gas trucks fill up get disrupted, you only have about 48 hours before cell service goes down after a disaster. Or worse, if the generators get damaged, then cell service is down until the main grid is restored. Not just hurricanes, this applies to all disasters natural or not.
