Removed post, I'm backing down because my post wasn't filled with mostly logic, it was more emotion and that's not what I like to post here.
Though I think (keyword think) it's because of pay and people are tired of factory work because the pay isn't getting good unless you don't wish to educate/self educate. College people and self educators can get a better job for a lot more an hour.

Also let me state once again..eventhough Russia is losing the war the currency is climbing to all time highs (I believe) or recent highs. I made an 62% profit in the matter of 2 weeks...let's let that say something. If Russia is eating it so bad why is the ruble spiking (above the pre war pricing)

Why should Russia be rewarded for their invasion? That just encourages them to do it again. I know Ukraine bears the cost, but it is strategically in the best interest of other countries to stop Russia now rather than give them incentive to do it again to someone else.
Thank you. Has been a steady dose of the only way to end this and make peace is to let Russia save face and cede part of Ukraine to them. This is terrible on its face and an insult to Ukraine. As you say, this will only embolden Russia or other countries to do the same thing...as long as they don't do it to a NATO country. To appease Russia to obtain an end to a war they started is insane.

I share the outage and indignity at the Russia invasion.
I also can have the strategic understanding in 21st century, despite recent USA Middle East/Asia surrenders, most activities involving peace-building of real nuclear powers require building compromise, even when it is disgusting.
We need to stop the killing of Ukrainian people to buy them time to live to fight another day. Escalation helps none of the vulnernable.
Fighting a war using Russia's rules and Russia's strategy will only benefit Russia. We need a different model of security and defense.
Which is why you don't appease Russia and encourage ceding parts of Ukraine to make them happy. That is fighting Russia's way and using their strategy.

They're debasing their currency essentially. And using whats left of the war chest to keep things afloat.

Also, to the ones worried about mobilization. Masses of practically defenseless conscripts doesn't work against drones, standard-issue machine guns, radar, satellites and armored vehicles. This isn't 1945.

withdrawal from nato.
I am actually good with calling for the USA withdrawal from NATO. The post WWII era was over in 1991.
USA sharing an ocean with Europe may be nice, but USA also shares the Pacific Ocean with Asia.

Europe needs to decide its defense future, not as a vassal to either the USA or the former USSR (Russia).
The population of Western Europe alone (197,301,388) is larger than Russia's, and the population of Europe (without Russia) is 602,433,908 - almost double the USA's population.
The population of Europe (without Russia and the UK) is 533,883,731.
Shouldn't nearly half a billion people be responsible for their own defense and deciding their own fate?
Nearly half a billion adults should be the ones making the calls about how to defend themselves, not someone living on a totally different continent.

Let's be honest. The people in London, Paris, Madrid, Rome, are not going to be worrying about WWIII if the USA and Communist Cuba get into a war. That would be an "Americas" problem, as it should be. Not an "Atlantic" problem and not a "European" problem.

The post-WWII creation of NATO in 1949 (73 years ago) certainly does not take into consideration the changes in the world in the 21st century. If we were to objectively reflect on the massive changes in the world in 73 years, it would be staggering.

If we hear ANYTHING productive on Monday, May 9, let's hope that we hear that European nation leaders will take the LEAD in the European continent's security and defense, not depending on either USA or Russia to make those decisions for them.

If they were doing that bad, the currency would go down. If they were doing good it'd go up..they got hit with the hardest sanctions currently known by man on the world stage.

Their currency is better now than it was pre war..so they are doing something right.

But it's whatever I made my money and got my initial investment out and it's still going up

I agree with you. Let the people of Europe make that decision. If they want to fight with Russia, that's their call. It should not be the USA's call.

In the past (WWI and WWII) the USA made sure nobody can stop Russia, that's their own mistakes, which they now have to iron out.

So if nato serves no purpose why are European nations having to consider war with Russia again.
If you want out of nato ok but you must commit to a massive build up of nuclear war heads and delivery systems.
Because your correct a lot has changed but but the game Continues use on.
Also I seriously question you motives because most of what you propose only benefits one nation and it’s not the US it’s Russia. <removed getting personal>

The most embarrassing part for the West in this...
With respect, who exactly is "the West" that we constantly quote, and what are our real "shared interests"? Because why hasn't EUROPE stood up to Russia on its own very continent? Is it because it has lacked time since 1945 to organize to do so? Has it been because it has gotten no USA support and protection since NATO creation in 1949 to do so? Do we really want to pretend that the 600,000,000 people in Europe with UK (without Russia) do not have resources, intelligence, skills, tools, ability to create weapons, defense, and military strategy? Because honestly, I don't believe it.

We (myself included) constantly use "the West" as a phrase, which unfortunately means the USA... with European nations (that have been around for thousands of years) acting as background singers to the USA's solo voice. Why aren't we reading about Germany intelligence helping Ukraine in its military actions in Die Welt, or French intelligence with helping Ukraine in its military actions in Le Monde, or UK intelligence helping Ukraine in its military actions in the Times of London? Why is it just a "NATO partner" from another continent?

Because part of the alarming (as well as embarrassing) issues in the USA is that the Ukraine/Russia war has faded into a distant background, and the American people have literally zero preparation for war. For the most part, they are paying NO attention to what is going on in Europe. Why shouldn't European nations whose actual security are really impacted by providing real leadership here? Why should it be the USA DoD giving all of the press conferences as if they are the Department of the Defense of Europe?

In WWI, please tell me how the USA made sure "nobody can stop Russia." Was that Germany's attacks on American ships and its unrestricted submarine warfare - a way to get USA to protect Russia?

In WWII, USSR was first with enemy Nazi Germany, before they broke that agreement, and mainly USSR, UK, USA, and Australia (as France was defeated and Italy was fascist), jointly ended up in the final war against Nazi Germany. Excuse me, wasn't it Nazi Germany that invaded the USSR on June 22, 1941? How was this that the USA making sure "nobody can stop Russia?"

Idk what Putin planning but keep seeing the people of Russia are planning somthing in conjunction with the holiday too. ;)

Ironic to see a London, UK poster posting on Twitter about planned Molotov Cocktail attacks in Russia, while using a USA Bald Eagle as the poster's logo. And yes, firebomb terrorism is a bad idea, and in most countries it is a criminal act. We can believe that, by the way, and not be a "hostile actor," "Russian stooge," or whatever else the Washington Post type commenters like to call people that they disagree with.

Not like we can verify these first hand sources. But given the dozen(s) of strategical locations sabotage within Russia past month by Russian saboteurs. Not far fetched to believe somthing is gonna happen inside Russia on their holiday given the recent string of attacks within.

sure but what can you buy with all that money? that is the problem in the future, like it was under soviet times.
