OK folks, this is only an opinion from someone who doesn't know military tactics, or political diplomatic tactics. It's just from a retired fireman (plain ole man on the street). But, this is the way I personally see it. I said earlier in the day that we are fixing to step into some deep shit. I'm still completely convinced that statement is very true. I see it as a trap, basically on two fronts--meaning Russia and China. Currently, China appears to be the diversion, although something will certainly take place in my opinion. While the media is concentrating on China, along with the politicians, Russia makes a move, and I don't mean military.

It's high time that America regrew the set of balls that it used to have. What would I do??? I'd wag the dog, meaning, fake videos of ms Nancy getting on a plane that would be supposedly heading to china. But that plane is a drone. If that plane is bothered in any way whatsoever, it's an act of war, regardless if anyone is on the plane or not. If something happens to that plane, drop a couple of tactical boys on china's ass. Of course, be fully prepared to also attack Russia, because that ole gut tells me that could be what Russia might be planning to do to us anyway. Regardless, we're not making the first move in this mess. But, china will do something which in all perspective, gives us the green light to take proper measures as a counter attack. Leave Russia alone, unless they decide to do something stupid.

The US is in a quandary with this mess, because if Polosi doesn't make the trip, China wins the strategic mind game. If the US goes through and Polosi actually goes there and /China does nothing, it weakens China's position. So, it's forcing China to take some sort of action if she goes over there. And folks, this is supposed to be just a couple of days away from happening. Time in this matter is short. The real danger of possible danger is a surprise attack by Russia on the US while the US is involved with the China mess. After all, you have to remember they are political buddies, closer than we think.

So how can we get out of this mess and not lose face??? Well Polosi could suddenly develop a bad case of Covid, the the trip has to be postponed for an unknown length of time. While that's taking place, maybe the important techs on chip design could quietly leave Tiawan, along with needed manufacturing equipment, and become a guest of the US. I'd go for that idea in a heartbeat. We shouldn't be dependent on any foreign country for our chips anyway. That's America's stupidity right there.

Does anyone else think that this is the worst tactical decision that our administration could do right now?
The US is looking at war with massively deleted weapon stocks that have been drawn down for the last 30 years. We have sent Ukraine tons of our missiles and equipment that we cant replace for years. Our strategic Oil reserves are at less than 20 days supply.
NOW we want to start a war with 2 powers without any ability to resupply. This will go down as the craziest military blunder in history!

Hyperbole. Massively depleting weapons stocks down to five times what everyone else has to three times what everyone else has still makes you the top dog. What we're sending to Ukraine we don't need. And the US does not WANT to start a war with two powers. If anything, it's those other two powers wanting to start a war with the US. Finally, sending a member of Congress to Taiwan is not a military move, therefore, it cannot be a "military blunder."

Let me phrase this in my usual polite, tactful method:
Everyone needs to calm the fuck down.

Seriously. This organization does not succumb to fear and panic. Keep your heads on straight and quit overreacting to this. We're going to keep an eye on the situation while Pelosi is there. But I will bet my next paycheck that she arrives safely back in DC without a single shot being fired by anyone.

China cant accept this level of humiliation it has to act against the US. We are playing with fire and still this site is at def-con 5. I know that our Nuclear bases are on higher alert as I live near FE Warren and it has been in lock down for over a month and this site will not change until ships are exploding and then probably level 3.

China would have to be incredibly suicidal to do something? A war between us would destroy China's economy, which is pretty much the only thing it has.
This is rhetoric as it always is from China. They will do something symbolic, but they aren't going to start a nuclear war or a conventional war or even risk trade with the US over this.
Nuclear bases would likely be on higher alert because of Ukraine, which is currently a bigger flashpoint. China may have nukes, but they are outnumbered by the thousands, and their military is not experienced.

Why would China do something NOW? As someone posted here, Pelosi visited Tiananmen Square in 1991. But that aside, China has been playing this game since C-T separated. They never do anything.

Breath man. Everything will be alright. We arent going to war with China because Pelosi visits Taiwan. Now, if she doesn't, we bend over and make China bolder, which might just end up with China doing something.

The defcon level is highly discussed in order to give people the correct amount of "fear" on situations. By people who have done this a long time and have sources you do not.

I have seen when this forum goes to DEFCON 3, and its usually pretty reasonable, although it used to actually be TOO common IMO, which is why they are more careful now.
Even RT doesn't think that this will cause war, likely just a minor retaliation to save face.

AGREE with your points but why keep pushing them NOW!
Just out
US set to pass the Taiwan Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act NOW!
Representatives Michelle Steel (R-California) and Jimmy Panetta (D-California) in the House, and Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-Tennessee) in the Senate, the ‘Taiwan Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act’ would authorize the president to lend or lease weapons and military equipment to Taiwan, which Taipei would pay for over a 12-year period.

The bill’s name and wording closely follow that of the ‘Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act’, which was signed into law by President Joe Biden in May after passing Congress with almost no resistance.

“Taiwan is our greatest partner in the Indo-Pacific region, and their continued sovereignty is essential to challenging the New Axis of Evil,” said Blackburn, referencing an often-maligned term used by former President George W. Bush to group America’s foreign enemies together.

It is simple, the US economy is a war-driven economy. Without it, we are in a "recession" or "depression". Go back and look at the economics of this country and the growth it has sustained over the last 250 years. During a conflict the economy soars, post-conflict it starts to taper off and during peace time, it starts to slow down.

Thats an illusion ( the story they keep telling to look weak, they are well aware that they need to get attacked to be able to mobilize the democratic world )

Yes, all of this is because after Ukraine we remembered a WW2 lesson - appeasement doesn't work.
We have to do these things, we know this, especially after Ukraine. And China just isn't in the position to do anything about it.
We need to give Taiwan weapons and defense NOW, because if we don't China could actually invade.

We arent depleted, and in war time we would have absolutely no issue with oil, we would just tell the oil companies it is ours now, and they got to drill more, they will be paid handsomely too.
Our weapons stockpile is bigger than ever. We have an insane budget and its not just going to nothing. The millitary likely already has weapons or theoretical weapons that are beyond our wildest dreams.
Do you have any clue the absolutely insane amount of money 800b is? Its unfathomably large. I have a video, (its also a political ad from occupy wallstreet times [ahh simpler times where americans were getting united for a change...] so you dont really have to watch to the end but it shows precisely how much money even $100m is)
One Hundred Million Dollar Penny
800b is $80 worth, or 8000 of those pennies.
Elon musk, richest man in the world (likely after putin, though) is worth ~250b, and he is flying rockets and working on going to mars.

Correlation does not imply causation. Basic rule of logic. And even the correlation here is questionable. For example, the US enjoyed strong economic growth between 1991 and 2000. It wasn't involved in any significant conflict during that time.

The US economy is not a war-driven economy. What even is a war-driven economy? 🤔

No. It's China (and Russia) that want to start wars. It's obvious to any rational observer. They think they're strong, so they start wars. That's how it's always been throughout history.

Blaming the US for Putin's and Xi's belligerence is pure Stockholm syndrome.

It would, however, be interesting to inquire when exactly F.E. Warren went on lockdown. "Over a month" suggests sometime in mid-June. I'm not aware of any event that would prompt an increase in their readiness level during that timeframe. The lone skyking was on July 8, so it doesn't match either.

But to fall on the falicy that we can win and are invincible if things do kick off is stupiduity on the highest level. Our troops haven't been trained on large combat operations against contested air since the early 90's. They have been training non-stop for large combat, if it happens I hope you are ready for the consequences. If this goes south I can see war crimes trials in the future, and it's our soldiers being hunted down in the future for them. I guess this probably will apply to many of you so you have to spin the propaganda.

I sense a lot of fear. That's how you get war in the first place.

Your comments are getting too close to becoming personal attacks. I suggest you dial it down a notch.
