The Pocket Guide to Bullshit Prevention

STOP. LISTENING. TO. AMERICAN. MEDIA.
Are you tired of US media? Well why not try British news!
Those are the main ones I read.

So we will no longer accept American media sources for valid reporting.
Is that what we’re saying here.
If we continue to just pick and chose.
Does that mean Sky news is no longer an acceptable news source?

This is a pretty narrow alley way you have all led us into.
So whom can we now count on for reliable news sources.
The New Delhi times, Jerusalem post no wait that will offend some for sure, la monde.
How about Al jazzera, DW and Niki.
I would include the Sourh China Post

Or do we just pick and choose and hope it pans out?

Most conservatives/GOP will claim anything EU is a liberal agenda especially EU media. Lost cause there bud. They think everything is fake news unless it comes from their GOP mouth peices/networks. Why I've been trying to avoid this thread and let RiffRaff attempt to give/lay down the facts. But as you can see its gonna go nowhere. 🤦‍♂️

When it comes to politics, yes. Breaking news reporting is different. But American media no longer makes a distinction between "news" and "editorials." They "report" editorial opinion as "fact." And people fall for it. This is a direct result of Reagan's repeal of the Fairness Doctrine forty years ago.

If a plane flies into a building, I'll tune to CNN. If I want to know what the Democrats and the Republicans are doing, I'll tune to foreign news sources. If I want bullshit apologist partisan politics, I'll tune to the DWS Politics Forum.

The why stay

Because we have a responsibility to moderate the forums so we have to read all the politics posts, it's quite difficult not to get involved and contribute to the discussion. Also remember we're here ultimately to analyse world events.
You know that’s fine but some of the worst treatment regarding other peoples opinions comes from staff.

You clearly do not see the countless posts we delete every other day of members attacking other members here. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean members are not personally attacking others for their opinions. Because trust me they are...

I may be blunt and have a very abrasive personality but I'm not treating any one member any different than any other.

And in my opinion, some of the worst behavior in the Political Forums comes from die-hard Trump supporters. Notice they still get to voice their opinion without moderation unless they become abusive.

To further add... we also discussed this before @Seriously:

People can use sarcasm as a response and it's not considered abusive so long as it raises a valid point and isn't a personal attack.

And does absolutely nothing for the discussion. It’s Twitter fodder

Problems generally to do with title and individuals opinions sometimes stem from picking and choosing what nation commits what atrocities in their own nation and or others , while at the same time ignoring their own nations and their allies atrocities. Selective memory?
It is fact history shows who some believe are the good guys or nations have the same history but some tend to use different brushes for justification or denial. Doesn't matter who or where, we are all human with human floors- traits. Suitable candidates for objectives and our reasons behind such behaviour doesn't necessarily mean one is better than the other overall. Some complain about genocide while actually sounding like they are against it at the same time suggesting it . If one believes they are on the pedestal above the rest for their convictions one can still sit on the floor looking up at the other with just as strong resolve for their own convictions. Without the same bias dominant attitude. This doesn't equal weakness as much as some believe. This is also risky to those on the pedestal as their balance is all ready at risk. History proves this aswell. Many empires have suffered for this reason. Many interfering countries with dominant attitude have also learned of such possibilities. Yet they may experience such not all learn.

If someone is breaking the rules, report the post. Staff are not immune from the rules. Heck, even I've been moderated and it's my fracking board!!! lol
