yes I am having a taste of the air support a squadron of 9 ROK jets and support aircraft have just left in groups of three. A USAF tanker aircraft was on the ground, looked like refuling and there were some US fighters they have now also left. All quiet for now. Just waiting for Talisman Sabre later this year. Looks like there will be USA, UK, Japan, Singapore, Republic of Korea and India this time. Is a hughe training exercise every 2 years. With all the troops APC and tanks on roads, aircraft, infantry and naval/marines it feels like you have ended up in some support base every time it happens.

Good interviews. Crazy to see the Nimitz that close to China.

US gets new Philippine bases with South China Sea, Taiwan in mind

Four new military bases to be used by United States forces deployed to the Philippines will be in scattered locations around the country, including in a province facing the flashpoint South China Sea, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr has said.
A former Philippine military chief has publicly said the US had asked for access to military bases in the provinces of Isabela, Zambales and Cagayan, all on the island of Luzon, facing north towards Taiwan, and on Palawan in the southwest, near the disputed Spratly Islands in the South China Sea.

US denies that China expelled American warship from near disputed islands

US Navy's 7th Fleet says USS Milius has been conducting routine operations in the South China Sea and was not expelled

The new underwater weapon is designed to “stealthily infiltrate into operational waters” and target naval striker groups and enemy ports, North Korea claimed.
“This nuclear underwater attack drone can be deployed at any coast and port or towed by a surface ship for operation,” KCNA said in a statement. A test warhead exploded in the waters off Hongwon Bay on Thursday afternoon, North Korea claimed.

China says US destroyer warned off for second day, US Navy said its ship successfully challenged China maritime claims.

China’s defence ministry has said that it had – for a second time – monitored and driven away the US Navy guided missile destroyer USS Milius after it entered what Beijing claims as its territorial waters in the South China Sea near the Paracel Islands.

Friday marked the second straight day of a standoff – and heated words – between the two superpowers amid growing tensions in the South China Sea.

The Southern Theatre Command of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) said in a statement on Thursday that the USS Milius had been found intruding in waters around the Paracel Islands and that China’s navy and air force were mobilised to “warn” the ship which had then departed the area.

The US Navy disputed China’s version of events, saying the destroyer left the area on conclusion of a “routine operation”.
