Damn good way to dispose of them, all though I would keep them as reserves until the war with China happens or the risk is passed.

They are a damn fine airframe, and will perform well after most ADA has been suppressed. They can get to a target, service it and fight their way out. Beats having deficits due to loses since F-35 production is slow.

No shit, totally agree and we are. Report was bs. Besides we don't expect new planes until 2027 and most likely beyond. Still nice to have a few more hours of self defence capabilities. 🤣😂🤣

UKRAINIAN HORNETS:
@ukraine_map
reports that the US and Australia are negotiating a package to send 41 decommissioned Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) F/A-18 Hornet strike fighters to Ukraine. The F/A-18 is a capable platform in air to air and ground attack roles.
Outstanding! Any more complex (ie newer design) from the west and the cannot maintain it, IMO. The F-18 is a simple (relatively) Airframe to maintain. The HUGE plus is long (medium+ to US) range AIR TO AIR Missiles can push the Russia bombers and strike AC back beyond out at least the range of Kiev (farther if the achieve Air Dominance (ie Air Superiority or maybe even supremacy).
This will take a metric shitton of pressure off their Ground based Air Defense.

🫡F-18’s ROCK❤️

They still are the Bees Knees if defending over friendly airspace. I would keep them even after the F-35 are fully fielded. -Self Edit-

Question for staffers:

Given UA'S 'loose lips sink ships' video from this morning urging silence on the counteroffensive, should we be more careful with things posted in the reports thread?
Yes. Please do not post anything of that nature as to not encourage it. Though I cannot force anyone to do it. Just asking personally.

Not that I think posting such info here will do any harm persay but rather trying to discourage sharing such information or activity in general. Try not to promote it please.

Edit:
Really want to stress I'm asking personally. Not asking as a DWS staffer.

It's fine. Like I said I'm asking personally. I cannot force or make anyone do anything. Freedom of Speech is unshakeable with the Director....

But yes asking personally not to share photo or video graphics of potential locations of Ukraine counteroffensive.

Not that I think it will do harm posting it here, doubt the Russians are monitoring this place. But rather just generally try not to promote the behavior itself or "promote" such information.

Even if Russia is monitoring this platform, I am not sure they could effectively do anything with the information given their, uh, struggles...

J/K. In all seriousness, I do get your point and understand your motivation. Why make it easier for Russia?

Well we now have the answer to whether Russia is capable of blowing up critical infrastructure along the river. Just another day in the world for Russian terrorists. There obviously is no other option now but the elimination and complete suffocation of Putin’s regime. I don’t know how this war hasn’t gone to WMDs yet considering the animals and butchers in charge.

I am unsure about "regime change" in Russia. Putin is the devil we know. Despite his actions and statements, he has not launched his nukes. You could make a case that he has shown restraint in that regard, when measured against the regime's rhetoric. Removing Putin could create a dangerous power vacuum, or could lead to a more radical leader with his hand closer to the button.

The west couldn't do it given the propaganda the regime has been feeding the people. I am not sure that a western-installed regime would have credibility in Russia.
An internal regime change could be unpredictable or unstable. And even that could still be blamed on the west if it fits the propaganda narrative.

Instead, I would like him to be removed through whatever remaining democratic means exist. Perhaps that is just a pipe-dream.

My vote is: Hit by a bus after falling from a window immediately after self-inflicted gunshots (3) to the back of the head.

Then a peaceful transition of power.

Your multiple-death scenario inspired me. There is a precedent in Russian politics that could be explored, ala Rasputin (see below). Since "Putin" is 62.5% of "Rasputin", simply subject "Putin" to 62.5% of the activities that befell Rasputin.

On the night of December 29, 1916, Yussupov and Pavlovich lured Rasputin to Moika Palace in St. Petersburg. The would-be killers first gave the monk food and wine laced with cyanide, however, when Rasputin seemingly failed to respond to the poison, they shot him at close range and left him for dead. In spite of these murderous measures, Rasputin revived shortly thereafter and made an attempt to flee the palace grounds, only to be intercepted by his assailants who shot him again and viciously beat him. They then bound Rasputin, who was remarkably still alive, and threw him into the freezing Neva River.

The west has no business deciding who the next ruler of russia is. There is a lousy track record of efforts such as this. So is the next one going to be crazier than Putin or not.
Can russia even hold itself together as a federation with anything but an autocratic government? I doubt if they can. So it will likely either way be someone similar to Putin.

Did they dig up his grave after a year to make sure he was still dead and drive a stake thru his heart?
Maybe that’s why Lenin resided in a glass coffin. So they could keep an eye on him and make sure he was still dead.
