Nothing to big. I am personally just no longer able to fulfill my duties around here because of personal reasons. So the Ukraine crisis log-book & other mini projects of my'n will no longer be updated. I am sorry. But I thank the director for the chance and opportunity he gave me for so many years here.

I'll still be around but my role and presents will be dramatically reduced around here. I must focus on my life.

Just seen a video of an execution of an apparent Wagner member by Russian forces. Called him a traitor, said it was treason and executed him through pleas of 'it wasnt me'.
This will be messy between the factions. Its a bit like Army v Navy, theres always a fisty cuffs anyway, add in hostilities, some in the combat zone more than others, wagner v putin and i cant see anything but loads of Russians/mercenaries just dissapearing (or showing up on execution videos).
 
I saw a report in the Reports forum that Russia agencies will be investigating if the West was involved in the recent Wagner mutiny. If they really believed that, why would they let Prigozhin leave for Belarus? This whole thing is wonky.

It would not surprise me if Russian agencies conclude the West was involved, particularly with US intelligence services claiming "they knew".

I think the odds are ever increasing that this entire thing was an intelligence operation. To what end is the question and only Putin and Wagner know the truth on that....or the CIA if those claims are to be believed.

It’s is, that said I cannot envision any world where a country is able to invade and seize another nation.
All the while claiming it’s an existential threat to them if anyone interferes.

And if someone does we’re using nukes.

Consider the impact to future aggressions.
Or proliferation.
If those are the new rules everyone is going to want bakers dozen.

Sergey Karaganov, a member of the Scientific Council under the Russian Security Council, has already published a second article that Russia will have to launch a nuclear strike on Europe.

We (The USA) used the same threat basis on Cuba. They were standing down or WW3 was on, they had as long as it took for us to organize an invasion force (basically call up 100% reserves and National guard) to see things our way or get a massive boot up their ass and failing that massive first use nuclear strikes.

Of course the Russians and Cuban putting Nukes on rockets 5 mins from Miami to New Orleans and all in between, and 7-10 minutes everywhere else WAS an existential threat to the United States.

Ukraine was exporting criticism of Russia and blocking Russias life long dream of a warm water port (How dare they think it was theirs!)

Im not comparing the essence of the events I’m saying that the nuclear threat has been already used and much more profoundly, and with much more certitude.

•Putins is like “it could happen”
 
We didn’t getting to be the United States by being milk-toast pussies like we have been since Vietnam. We used to kill people and break things, then piss on rubble, then shot any survivors we saw or even better firebomb the Bombed-out rubble to get the last bit of life out of a city.
Crossing the US use to be a terrible and grave thing.

A more accurate comparison would have been more like this. As the bay of pigs fiasco was falling apart the US used the threat of nukes to keep Russia out of it and try and intimidate Castro to flee.
The US’s ultimatum wasn't that Russia had to vacate Cuba completely. Just get the nukes out.
It was a nuclear ultimatum in reply to a nuclear threat.

We weren’t telling Cuba to be a vassal state of the US or else. Just no nukes.
Russia continued to have a signet station in Cuba till 2002.

Everyone was that way not just the US. Some still are.

We just figured out how to do it on an industrial scale.

You are absolutely correct. I was just going for broad strokes of when First Use of Nuclear weapons was threatened, (After WW2)
and saying it was US.
