A quote from President Biden from the article:
“The reason why Xi Jinping got very upset in terms of when I shot that balloon down with two boxcars full of spy equipment in it is he didn’t know it was there,” Biden said at a fundraiser in California. “It was blown off course up through Alaska and then down through the United States. And he didn’t know about it. When it got shot down, he was very embarrassed.”

Was Xi Jinping embarrassed that he did not know about it, or was he embarrassed that he got caught?

I think the better question here, is why the EFF is Biden making excuses for the CCP? There was clearly an intent to gather “data” with that balloon. Biden insults the intelligence of every American with this malarkey.

It does seem apologetic. Perhaps the statement is meant to serve diplomatic objectives and an international (Chinese) audience.

Here's another quote that bothers me:
"Meanwhile, Chinese officials have expressed concern that should the U.S. investigators’ report on the balloon become public, Beijing will be forced into a strong reaction, potentially derailing high-level engagement."
  • If it was just, as Bob Ross would say, "a happy accident", and simply an embarrassment because Xi didn't know it was there, what does Beijing have to hide? That they stole more US tech? The creative ways they used the tech against us? That the balloon was trying to probe or exploit a vulnerability in tech on the ground that they don't want us to find or remediate?

China is strong-arming Biden into not revealing what was actually on that balloon. That, and it’s a national security risk. There was likely something “else” on that balloon we weren’t supposed to find. Think high altitude delivery system. What for, TBD.

My issue is he is clearly taking it up the wazoo from China. This is just more evidence of what most Americans already know. This is what happens when a President is compromised, and a nation is FAR TOO DEPENDENT on a geopolitical enemy.
